how do you prefer to watch your favorite shows??

Well since the shows I enjoy most are not out on DVD, I would say syndicated. BUT when my favorites begin coming out in season sets, I will be buying them.

I said DVD.... my two favorite series are out, and all of my other favorites are either on the way, or will definately be out eventually (shows like "The Facts of Life" and "Diff'rent Strokes", for example -- they'll be on DVD eventually, we just dont know when)

I'd pick dvds because being able to own all my favorites and watch them whenever I want is the most appealing thing to me. Aside from when Three's Company was still on Nick At Nite, I don't watch much syndicated stuff on a regular basis anyway, not like I used to. DVD is the ideal way for me to watch these shows.

Id be shocked if you said you prefered syndication.

Yes, you're right. Everytime I read one of your posts stating your love of tv-dvds, I'm definitely on the same wave length. I've nearly given up buying movie dvds to support my tv dvd habit.

You know how great the regular edition that is? Those extra two discs are just as great!

There's even an Easter Egg where Sam and Bill do a commentary in character.

I've taken my time with the standard set, only watched the first six episodes so far. I bet that commentary is hilarious. Bill Haverchuck is one of the funniest, greatest characters in tv history.

TV on DVD. In fact, it's gotten to where I don't even watch syndication anymore.

And some shows I can't stand to watch on TV, however when I bought them I DVD, I enjoy them. (Cheers, M*A*S*H and Friends)
I plan on buying every season of every sitcom. Because most of the time, I can make myself like a sitcom.

Plus, thanks to DVD I can enjoy the HBO comedy "Curb Your Enthusiasm." Since I don't have HBO, this is the only way to watch it.

My absolute favorite shows are slowly making their way to DVD.

-NewsRadio: Seasons 1 & 2 (coming soon)
-Boy Meets World: Season 1 (coming soon)
-Quantum Leap: Season 1 (coming soon)
-Sliders: Seasons 1 & 2 (coming soon)
-The Monkees: Seasons 1 & 2 (Already Out)
-The King of Queens: Seasons 1 & 2 (Already Out)

I just wish more 50s and 60s sitcoms would come out.

You spent the $120.00 on it?

Was it worth it?

It was definitely worth $120, but I have a connection who was able to get it to me for $60. This was after I had already bought the regular edition.

Yes because everyone will BUY their show on DVD if they were choosing between syndicaton and the DVD. Well you maybe the only STUPID person who would watch their show in syndication instead of buying the DVD

But I was suprised -- a few people DO prefer syndication.

It depends how old the show is. For instance, I like the Simpsons and I like Three's Company. I won't buy the Simpsons on DVD cause it's on all the time in syndication plus I know whats cut . They only cut about 1 minute every episode so it's no big deal. A show like Three's Company I will buy on DVD cause over 3 minutes is cut in syndication and N@N. Plus I have no idea what is cut.

Or maybe someone doesn't have enough mone for TV DVD's because they'd rather their family have food on the dinner table every night. Ever thought about that?

Yes, but on the DVD's, you get all the cool extras like commentaries, old Butterfinger commercials, parade fotage from the early 90's with a Bart Simpson float, five different language settings, etc. :D

I was giving an arguement on why it was worth it to buy the Simpsons DVD's. I only have Season 3 right now (I never liked the first two seasons), and Season 4 is on it's way.

Not when they have bills to pay. Technically, I don't have the money as a secretary, but I buy them because I have a credit card...which is a bad habit. But if it's gas to get to work or the DVD, I'm picking the gas.

well i guess it depends on the price. Like this weekend i want to buy both new releases of Sanford and Son and Three's Company but i think I will only be able to get one f them because I have to buy food and pay rent.

Definitely TVDVD's because of how some shows are treated:rolleyes: Take Boy Meets World, Disney treats it like CRAP, they banned 3 episodes, and constantly do cuts that make no sense(like one scene you'll here "damn" and the next scene that same word is cut) Now BMW is coming to ABC Family, and I am told that they cut out the final scenes of episodes, which makes no sense, cause those are important to the shows too

I am sooooooooo glad BMW is coming out on DVD! :) :D

If you want to get both seasons 1 & 2 of Smallville, places like amazon.com will sell them both for a little cheaper than they would if you were to buy them separately. Amazon has both seasons for $86 combined, which makes a $43 average, a decent price when you consider the number of episodes/discs involved. I'm considering getting both seasons when the second one is released.

Ok well take $10 out of 5 paychecks. Look sometimes you have to treat yourself. You are not supposed to work and have nothing for you. Sometimes entertainment comes before bills. For example, I will be buying the Three's Company DVD this week and I have a cable bill due and guess what i'm going to do?LOL

I'm the same way. I only use cash. Fortunately amazon.com accepts money orders and bestbuy will take cash in the store, but you have to haggle with them to give you the internet price.
I got in a hell of an argument at one location with the manager whom I first asked "Is there any penalty for paying with cash?"
He said, laughingly, there wasn't so I preceded to buy about $300 worth of dvd's only to find out most of them were $7 to $15 more in the store than on the internet. When he wouldn't lower the price, I went to another location who did and gave me no trouble about it.
Anyway, as for syndication, just two words: IT SUCKS.
Unfortunately, many of my favorite shows, or more seasons of them are not out yet on dvd. I got sick of watching 21 minute chopped up time compressed episodes and bit the bullet last year finally buying a dvd player.

Ive realized something -- if "The Complete 3rd Season" of a show is released on DVD -- you're practically GUARANTEED that the whole series will be released.
But sadly, MANY series stop at Season 2, and some at Season 1.

On DVD, because a lot of stations edited out pieces of the episodes to allow for more commercials or because they don't want to show parts of the episode that may not be "appropriate" for all ages (Nickelodeon for example).

I like BMW too - I watched it in its original run, as well. I'm not sure if I'll be buying it immediately when it comes out -- that depends on if there are any other DVD's I want that are coming out at the same time, too.

And they'll def. release all the seasons, too. I'm sure of that.
