View Full Version : My pet died Michael [hXc] 08-09-2004, 05:16 PM Today my guinea pig Cinnamon died. I have another one but it's not the same without two. I found out 10 minutes ago and I'm still crying :crying: Rhiannon 08-09-2004, 05:21 PM Aw! I had to put mine to sleep last year. Sad times, I know. :( Mr. Television 08-09-2004, 05:22 PM I'm sorry. :( Michael [hXc] 08-09-2004, 05:29 PM Today my grandmother found her lying down in her cage and she tried to pick her up but she was stiff, cold, and wet. I think she had diabetes. She always had a wet bottom from the time we got her and recently she always had matted down fur. Last year we took her to be checked but they said she didn't have anything. Nighthawk76 08-09-2004, 05:29 PM I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your pet. Hang in there. Michael [hXc] 08-09-2004, 05:40 PM It's hard. I'm afraid my other guinea pig Nutmeg will die too. She seems healthy but after losing one I can't get the idea out of my head. I wanted Cinnamon to be cremated by my mom wants to bury her with our old cat. ~*Dailey'sGurl*~ 08-09-2004, 05:40 PM I'm SO sorry...... be strong and spend special time with your other one. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to ease your pain. Again, I'm EXTREMELY sorry! :( :bighug: Michael [hXc] 08-09-2004, 06:02 PM It's hard to look at her picture without crying. I cried just remembering something my mother said to her as a joke "Cinnamon, you have beautiful highlights in your fur, something any woman would give anything for". It just made me even sadder. My grandmother and I are burying her tomorrow. crystals 08-09-2004, 06:26 PM Aw, I'm sorry. :( TheGreatPretender 08-09-2004, 08:04 PM I'm really sorry. :( Just remember Cinnamon is happy in guinea pig heaven. Ravey 08-09-2004, 08:36 PM Sorry :( dandelion wine 08-09-2004, 08:37 PM Oh no, I'm sorry. :( Michael [hXc] 08-10-2004, 07:06 AM Today my grandmother and I are going to bury her. We put her in a little box to put underground behind the old pine tree in our yard. G-Force Glockstar 08-10-2004, 12:29 PM Like I said in my PM, I'm very sorry about that!! :crying: webuster 08-10-2004, 03:15 PM I'm so sorry :( *Pleasant Tomorrow* 08-10-2004, 03:17 PM Sorry, that sucks :( Michael [hXc] 08-10-2004, 03:35 PM Today my mom and I are going to go outside to where she's buried and say our fondest memories of her. I miss her so much :crying: ¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 08-10-2004, 05:07 PM Aw Im sorry! Hmm... you say the bottom was always wet and stuff? Theres a condition called wet tail, and one of my hampsters had it when I had one about 10 years ago.. they dont last too long that way. If thats the case, you gotta wash the cage out and get rid of ALL the germs, because it can be picked up by others. Aww... you have another one named Nutmeg? My dogs name is Nutmeg.:D Michael [hXc] 08-10-2004, 06:02 PM Originally posted by ?I Love Clay Aiken? Aw Im sorry! Hmm... you say the bottom was always wet and stuff? My dogs name is Nutmeg.:D My mom and I read about wet tail disease yesterday. But you said they don't last too long that way and she lasted 1 year with it. Another disease that wet bottom is a symptom of is diabetes, so it's probably either that or wet tail. So how should we clean it? With disinfectants and stuff? I'll suggest that to my mom. Thanks:) ¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 08-10-2004, 06:07 PM Originally posted by Avril's Sk8er Boi My mom and I read about wet tail disease yesterday. Because I remember reading way back when, that if they have wet tail they dont last too long. The first one we had we didnt know it had it, and he lasted 6 days. Then we got another one right after him but didnt clean it the right way, so he lasted about 2 weeks! Oy! But umm.. to clean it, you gotta disinfect it.. soak it in bleach or something to KILL ALL THE GERMS! Michael [hXc] 08-10-2004, 06:14 PM I'm kind of worried about disinfecting the cage because my friend's aunt did that and the fumes killed her piggys.:( We think that she had her own problem that Nutmeg won't catch from her or anything like that. My guinea pigs were the cutest ones I've ever seen. Their fur is the color that they are named after, and their bellies are a light sandy yellowish brown. They're so cute and it's hard to find them looking like that. They don't look like "rodents" like they are. They're so adorable and losing Cinnamon did a job on me. Aww.:( Well, you gotta airout the cage for a day or 2 too, in order to get rid of the smell. Also, once you disinfect it, Id wash it again in Dawn or something nice smelling, but DEF. air it out so it doesnt hurt Nutmeg.:) Michael [hXc] 08-10-2004, 06:59 PM When my grandmother told me, I was shocked. She saw Cinnamon in the cage that morning and she thought she was sleeping. Then 2 hours later she got suspicious and when I got home, she told me, and I ran to her cage praying that she was just sleeping, but her body was cold and stiff. I still can't believe she's dead. Seeing her lying in that comfortable position in that box really hurt me and talking about it makes me cry:( And I can't stop worrying about Nutmeg. |
