View Full Version : A TV show that you started liking by an accident?
TVFactFan 08-07-2004, 11:33 AM I just recently started liking Seinfeld by a accident. It was nothing on TV and i was on the internet and it seemed like the more i listen to Jerry, the more interested I became in watching the show. Another show would be All in the Family.
spunkygirl 08-07-2004, 11:36 AM The Nanny, I came across about a week ago, and have been watching it ever since.
tvfan0101 08-07-2004, 12:37 PM ER is probably the best example. I was watching the regular NBC comedies on Thursday and did not turn the television off after the last one. ER started, I watched, I got hooked. I watched for the rest of the season and intend to watch this upcoming season as well.
The same can be said for Farscape and Nip/Tuck. I cannot think of any comedies that I saw by accident and then proceeded to start liking.
barwars 08-07-2004, 08:07 PM Most shows, with a few minor exceptions.

treky 08-08-2004, 12:06 AM "Mad About You"-once, NBC was showing some of it's comedies in a block, on a night they normally weren't shown. (I think this was 94 or 95). All the ones they showed, I already watched : "Frasier" ",Wings", and I forget what else. But, they also showed an episode of "Mad About You" which I had heard of but had never seen.
I watched it, and was hooked.
The Obsolete Man 08-08-2004, 12:37 AM Cheers.
I was bored while I was on vacation, and there's really nothing on between 1 am and 2 am but Cheers. I was never a Cheers fan, but I was bored. So, I left TV Land on, and they were airing the first season episodes. They're not too bad. And, I just picked up the first box set, and the episodes are genuinely funny.
SBTB Geek 08-08-2004, 02:37 AM "M*A*S*H"- I was too lazy to change the channel (yes, it's sad,) so I just kept the TV on, and eventually got interested.
"Wings"- turned on the TV when I woke up, USA Network was on, there was a very funny scene, liked it ever since.
"The Lucy Show"- I was home alone, the cable wasn't working plus it was Sunday so there was nothing on. Took a risk by actually surfing broadcast channels over ch. 13, found a neat independent channel airing this.
"WKRP"- same reason as above, came on right after "TLS."

Small Wonderian 08-08-2004, 07:53 PM For me, it's Seinfeld and Three's Company.
Moonlit_Suburb 08-08-2004, 09:22 PM Dharma & Greg: One night I was waiting for 3rd Rock from the Sun to air on Fox. It was airing late due to a baseball game, and I sat through an ep of D&G in the meantime. I thought it was a cool show, and became hooked. Its now one of my favorite modern sitcoms.
Janice 08-08-2004, 10:39 PM I sort of stumbled upon Mr. Ed, Coach and Wings and ending up loving them. Same with Barney Miller.
EmoJoe 08-08-2004, 10:41 PM Full House, I just caught the marathon on Nick@Nite and then every night I gound myself watching it until I loved it....

My roommate tried for the first 8 weeks to get me to watch and I flat out denied. Let's just say I haven't missed an episode since.
USTVFanFromUK 08-10-2004, 07:51 PM The Golden Girls
combsisthebest 08-10-2004, 08:49 PM Roseanne. I could never stand Roseanne, but I was bored one day and started watching some episodes on our CBS affiliate. Granted I don't care for anything after the second season (I used to say first), I still really like to watch those "beginning" episodes.
LucyCompanyPhan 08-12-2004, 12:51 AM That 70s Show. My parents always watched it and I never really liked it. I've caught a few episodes here and there and its not that bad.
Three's Company. I don't remember how I got into it but I know I didn't plan on it.
Facts of Life. I was so mad because N@N took off I Love Lucy to air this but this show was really funny I discovered.

GeorgeWBushGOP 09-05-2004, 04:01 PM I caught Still Standing on CBS and love it.
I fell on to South Park by accident as well and love it.
Classic TV Fanatic 09-05-2004, 08:07 PM Diff'rent Strokes. This show used to come on TNN right before and after Three's Company. Both shows were on in the morning and I had nothing better to do but watch. After about a week watching Diff'rent Strokes, I was hooked to the show. I was surprised ...

dawsongirl 12-06-2005, 10:50 PM I Love Lucy (and basically all classic TV). A kid I was babysitting had N@N on so I watched and got hooked on classic TV.
Adam-12, Emergency, and Dragnet. For years I couldn't understand how my dad watched these, but then one day I sat down and watched them and now I think they're awesome.
My Favorite Martian. I think it was on TVL in the morning as I was trying to wake up.
The Powerpuff Girls. It was just on one day and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about.
Ireneparalegal 12-06-2005, 11:38 PM Drew Carey and Whose Line Is It Anyway...funny I caught them both in their second season on television. There was nothing else on and I left it on Drew Carey and found it to be so hilarious. Same thing with Whose Line. They are my faves of all time. I love the reruns.
