Larry started flirting with Janet and she went with it.Then he showed his true colors by backing down and went to his apartment which showed that he's all bark and no bite

I guess Larry was used to being the most agressive one

Jack was like that too. He would back away when the women came on to HIM.

So that's why he never came on to Lana

I don't remember Jack being too agressive on dates

He was usually very forward....when he SHOULDN'T have been.

Like when he was dressed as Grandma Tripper for a bake-off and he's hitting on a woman! Couldn't he control himself long enough to collect his prize money?!

And the time he walked in the door and saw Teri's friend sitting on the couch and started putting the moves on her, until he found out she was a nun.

And when he wanted Furley's niece so bad that he concocted the story about having a twin!

Sometimes he needs to back off.

A lot of it was bravado. Deep down Jack had a good heart. It was well displayed in the episode when Janet's dance instructor was coming on to her. She was so hurt by all that happened and being deceived. He showed a heart of compassion and care for her. I think that episode took the Jack and Janet friendship to a whole new level where underneath there was some feelings for each other.
