Rhiannon 08-05-2004, 09:45 AM Her old stuff- Selena, Anacdona..were a lot better than Maid in Manhattan and Enough. I used to love her movies, but not recently.
CliffClavin 08-05-2004, 12:44 PM She's not bad its just she picks horrible movies.
How about her new one "Shall We Dance" ?
Plot Outline: A workaholic lawyer’s life and marriage take an unexpected twirl when he follows a beautiful woman to a Chicago dance studio and becomes a clandestine ballroom dance competitor in SHALL WE DANCE. What begins as a romantic comedy soon turns into an exhilarating tale about the unexpected places one finds passion. SHALL WE DANCE is directed by Peter Chelsom from a screenplay by Audrey Wells based on the runaway Japanese hit that won fans around the world. Inspired by the Japanese film’s light-hearted wit and thrilling dance sequences, this new version brings the story to the American search for fulfillment and happiness.
Richard Gere stars as John Clark, a man with a wonderful job, charming wife (Susan Sarandon) and loving family, who nevertheless feels that something is missing as he makes his way every day through the city. Each evening on his commute home, John sees an entrancing young teacher (Jennifer Lopez) staring with a lost expression through the window of a dance studio. Haunted by her gaze, John impulsively jumps off the train one night, and signs up for dance lessons hoping to meet her. At first, it seems like a mistake. His teacher turns out to be not Paulina, but the older Miss Mitzi (Anita Gillette), and John proves just as clumsy as his equally clueless classmates on the dance-floor. Even worse, when he does meet Paulina, she icily tells John she hopes he has come to the studio to seriously study dance and not to look for a date.
But, as his lessons continue, John discovers that his attraction to Paulina pales in comparison to the invigorating effects of falling in love with dancing. Now, keeping his new obsession from family and co-workers, John feverishly trains for Chicago’s biggest dance competition. His friendship with Paulina blossoms, as his enthusiasm rekindles her own lost passion for dance. But the more time John spends away from home, the more his wife becomes suspicious until she hires a private detective to uncover a possible affair. With his secret about to be revealed, John will have to do some fancy footwork to keep his dream going and realize what it is he really yearns for.

HuntingtonM15 08-05-2004, 12:55 PM I don't think she's a spectacular actress or anything, but I do like some of her movies. I'm actually looking forward to seeing An Unfinished Life.
Superstar 08-05-2004, 02:59 PM I only saw her in "Jack" alongside Robin Williams. She wasn't bad
Dean Winchester 08-05-2004, 04:10 PM she was okay in the late 90's, but then her movies got terrible once she got caught up in her own hype.
She was however excellent on her guest appearence on South Park last season... why she didn't put Taco Flavored Kisses out on a cd is beyond me... that was probably her best song ever :)

consentida 08-05-2004, 04:16 PM Selena was her only good movie. Everything after that was horrible.
CliffClavin 08-05-2004, 04:25 PM The Cell , Selena , Anaconda , Antz , & The Wedding Planner are her only good movies so far.
SBTB Geek 08-05-2004, 06:26 PM "Selena" was good, "Out of Sight" was watchable, and that's about it.
Ewan's My Man 08-05-2004, 06:43 PM I liked "Enough" and I liked "The Wedding Planner" b/c I liked the plot, I think I would still like the movies if someone else played her part, though I really do think she did well in "Enough". "Maid in Manhatten" was TOLERABLE, but I dunno, I found the storyline, blah. I'm not a very big J. Lo fan though. And I've never seen Selena or any of the others you guys have mentioned so I can't comment on those.
crystals 08-06-2004, 01:03 AM I love the film Selena, but it's because I like Selena's music. I'm not a big fan of Jennifer Lopez. Although, I think the films Anaconda and Angel Eyes were good. One of my dad's fave actresses is Jennifer Lopez. It's like if there's a film in the theater with her in it even if it's crappy, we have to see it. I didn't like the film Enough, Maid In Manhattan or The Wedding Planner too much.
*Marilyn Monroe* 08-07-2004, 08:18 PM I like most of J.Lo's movies, but I usually don't say a movie is bad, unless it's REALLY bad.
Janet McFarland 08-08-2004, 11:01 PM Not all of her movies are bad .. I loved her in Selena, Maid In Manhattan, and Enough. I've seen Enough about 2479274204720 times .. since it comes on all the time on HBO.
TheGreatPretender 08-08-2004, 11:07 PM I don't like her that much, she has alot of talent but she has such ****ty songs! As for her acting I really admired her performance in Selena. :D
