Was Cliff's name really changed? I say no, and I have my reasons.
First of all in the first episode, yes, we see the camera zoom in on the plate that says "CLIFFORD HUXTABLE, M.D." So everyone thought "omg hiz naem iz cliferd."
However, notice that no one says his full first name in the episode.
Now, a few episodes later we see the plate near CLIFF'S OFFICE, which says "HEATHCLIFF HUXTABLE, M.D." Of course around this time his name is Heathcliff, as we know.
But I noticed something last night. I was watching a later episode and the plate beside the front door STILL said "CLIFFORD HUXTABLE, M.D." So, here's some proof that his name was really never Clifford in the first episode. Although I could be wrong...
