Musical episodes. Intolerable mothers-in-law (except "The Munsters," where the father-in-law was an okay guy). In-laws who don't get along with their kid's spouses and/or parents-in-law. Kids who have adult substitutes for their parents duri ng meetings with teachers or other authority figures. Parents who meddle in their adult children's lives. People who destroy somebody else's belongings and try to make a replacement, usually with bad results. situations in which two friends attempt to join an organization, the friend #1 makes it but friend #2 is excluded, and the first friend quits the club/group/whatever in protest. Wherer two people make a sex video and it gets mixed up somehow with a clean tape. The sex tape theme was a "Friends" staple (with varaitions, of course). It was also used on shows that were geared toward older audiences ("Mad about You," for example).

People getting handcuffed together.

It's funny, cause I was watching Green Acres and when they got handcuffed together I was like "OMFG! this has happened on every show, it's so outplayed"

then I realized that It probably hadnt been done too many times before that. But when it happens in newer shows, it is just ridiculous.
