In time for the release of 'I,Robot' (which I'm definitely going to see!!!) in the UK- The Sun newspaper is having 5 days of articles relating to robots. Today's the 2nd day (I missed the first). Anyway, the article shows how advanced robots really are- and I went to a website mentioned in the article- and it really creeped me out- people have built a 'domestic android' called Valerie- that can speak, clean, use a dishwasher- do practically all domestic chores. And it's made to resemble a person! It was really creepy!
Go to www.androidworld.com
It has articles on other robotics- but that was the creepiest thing I've read in a long time!

Omg, I've been scared of robots ever since I saw Artificial Intelligence. Those things creep me out.

Wow, that Valerie's rather ...foxy!
I'd have to see her do all those things it says she can do to believe it though.
I don't think we're that far yet.

I didn't believe it either- but I emailed one of the people creating it. They didn't say what had been acheived with the robot yet, but that they're still working on the prototype- I don't think it's wise to be taking orders from people in time for delivery this Christmas is they're still building the prototype! It will be kind of cool if it works though- it'd be neat to have a robot do the dishes (though I'd probably be nervous about switching the thing on, not to mention letting it do dishes and run a vacuum cleaner!).

In our ICT class in school, we have booklets of questions. There are sets of questions, including how we view the portrayal of robots in movies (I'm not kidding- there's a scan of the poster for Bicentennial Man in everything), how we believe they will be used in the future, and could they be a danger. We haven't had to answer these questions yet, but it should be interesting when we do.

Robots should be programed to love, so they don't take over. Sonny from I, Robot is my homie.
