CBS prepping disaster miniseries
The disaster miniseries genre is gaining popularity once again, thanks in part to NBC's earthquake saga 10.5, which delivered blockbuster ratings last season. Now CBS is cashing in on the trend with an as-yet-unidentified disaster-themed miniseries the network is quietly putting together for next season. According to The Hollywood Reporter, thesps Brian Dennehy, Dianne Wiest, Randy Quaid, Nancy McKeon and Thomas Gibson are set to star in the untitled miniseries.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Brian Dennehy, Dianne Wiest, Randy Quaid, Nancy McKeon and Thomas Gibson will star in a disaster-themed miniseries that CBS is quietly putting together for next season.

The disaster miniseries genre, which had cooled off considerably during the past few years, got hot again last season when NBC's earthquake saga "10.5" delivered blockbuster ratings.

Emmy-nominated Dennehy most recently worked with CBS on the 2003 TV movie "The Crooked E: The Unshredded Truth About Enron." He is onscreen in Spike Lee's feature "She Hate Me," which opened Wednesday.

Oscar and Emmy winner Wiest most recently toplined the CBS/Hallmark Hall of Fame TV movie "The Blackwater Lightship."

Quaid, who starred on CBS' short-lived drama "The Brotherhood of Poland, N.H." last season, was most recently seen in the Sci Fi Channel miniseries "5ive Days to Midnight."

McKeon stars on Lifetime's series "The Division."

Former "Dharma & Greg" star Gibson most recently starred in the CBS TV movie "Raising Waylon." He will next be seen in the feature "Come Away Home."

Holy Dog $h^t. Nancy McKeon in a disaster flic? I hope it don't take place in California. Earthquake in New York got old real quick. Now a miniseries about an earthquake in Texas, especially around San Antonio and Austin would be really cool. I know Randy and Dennis Quaid are both from Texas, and to have Nancy McKeon in this miniseries will be really cool. I'll pay to see an earthquake disaster movie in which San Antonio and Austin get destroyed by a major 8.0 earthquake. Really cool. I'd say let the ground open and crumble the Hemisphere Tower and the Alamo in a major earth tremblor, and the rebuilding progress. I love fiction stories.

If McKeon is in this miniseries, that mean that The Division season 5 will definitely be put on hold. They did it with The Sopranos when James Gandolfini was starring in a few movies. They'll definitely put The Division season 5 on hold. Not cancelled, just on hold. Think about it!

Lets see, Nancy McKeon in a miniseries, Bonnie Bedelia set to possibly star in Die Hard 4, Die Harder, Amy Jo Johnson set to possibly go on tour with her new band. What do you think?

Um.....ok....well, just because Nancy is doing a miniseries, that doesn't mean TD will be put on hold (provided that TD is coming back). They do get like a 3 or 4 month hiatus, and that's definately enough time for filming a miniseries. Lots of actors do other things during their series' breaks.

The only problem with that story is that we don't get earthquakes in Texas. We have tornados, which is enough for me.

I didn't say in real life, I said fictionally. They did Earthquake in New York City. Guess what, the Big Apple don't even have earthquakes at all. Hahahahaha! But they still did a fictional movie based in a what if, as in what if NYC had a major earthquake. It's the same with Texas, if Texas is the storyline. It's a big ole what if.

I heard they cancelled The Division for good. Now Nancy is in a Miniseries. Maybe she'll finally get those big Sandra Bullock sized box office movie deals she so deserved. Maybe she'll even be in a Lord of the Rings like movie. Who knows! May the future be with her.

It won't end here. According to Nancy's MSN chat, she said if she were to act with two celebrities, she said one of them was Tom Hanks. Who knows what future movie deals will come Nancy's way. Personally, I'd like to see her in a Sandra Bullock type action movie or a Julia Roberts type of comedy. Nancy in an action type movie as the big heroin type but-kicker would rule. Now the Division is gone, Nancy now has the chance to be in any big box office movie. There was even a rumor in 2001 saying Nancy was being recommended by Keneau Reeves himself for a major role in The Matrix, but Nancy McKeon was too busy with The Division at the time. Now I could see Nancy McKeon in a Quentin Tarantino movie with Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta in the near future. May the unset future be bright for Nancy.
