I WAS WONDERING IF THERE WAS AN UPDATE ON THE FOLLOWING CASE:

It was about this Middle Eastern man. He was kidnapped for some unknown reason in Beruit, Lebanon in the 1980s. His captors believed he was an American spy. He cut himself and his captors took him to hospital, it was the only way he could escape.

He had migrated to the United States in the 1980s are splitting up with his wife. He started and ran a very successful Hollywood Arabic Restaurant.

Then he started getting phonecalls with threats, machine gun fire, evil laughter and haunting screams. His car was even bombed.

The man was so scared he self commited himself to a psychiatric hospital just to avoid the calls. The manager that helped run the restuarant while the guy was in hospital started to recieve abussive phone calls too. His son was even attacked.

When the story was shot in 1993. Something like 5 years after the torment started the man in hospital was still recieving on average 1 phone call per day.

The man believe that the threats all stem back from the time he was kidnapped and that he saw people he wasnt meant to see. He also believes that he met some underworld Beruit figures at some of his ex-wife's parties (his wife was a Lebanese film start).

I remember that case well. It also scared me a great deal. I remember that the man cut himself with a jagged piece of plastic in order to commit suicide, but the people in the jail brought him to a hospital where he was released. I always wondered why people would bother calling and threatening him rather than killing him, which they would apparently have had the ability to do if they knew his whereabouts.

yeah, the guys last name was Bashir, I think. I wish one of those super-admin dudes could run a search on this case and see if there were any updates.

This case freaked me because he was powerless to stop these horrible phone calls. He had to commit himself to a shielded hospital in the end. Felt so sorry for that guy.

This would have been a good case for a private investigater. It was obvious there were several people involved calling from various phone booths across a wide area.

After awhile me and some of my buddies would have just cased the phone booths undercover and eventually youd nab one of the people involved. This isnt rocket science. The calls arent coming from outer space.

Also, some family member or friend had to be in on the inside, for the callers to constantly find this guy even in seclusion. nobody is that good on their own...
