View Full Version : Teen Clothing to Slutty?
CheersChild4life 08-01-2004, 06:29 PM My friend and I were sitting at my table reading the paper when an article comes up on teen fashions today. All it was, was a bunch of people calling teenage girls slut. My friend and I were absolutely outraged! I'm a teenager and I where some of the fasions they were talking about (low-rise jeans, and tight shirts) and I'm not a slut. It's what I ware not who I am. Clothes reflects your personality, but you can't base a person on that. I'm sorry but it just really made me made that they could go of calling us sluts.
Mrs. Ducky 08-01-2004, 06:34 PM Oh I hate that! My friends tell me I dress like a slut all the time. It's annoying as hell. Just because I wear mini skirts, tight shirts, and low-rise jeans doesn't mean I'm a slut.
I am Him 08-01-2004, 06:34 PM Exactly what defines slutty fashion?
TheGreatPretender 08-01-2004, 06:35 PM Unfortuneatly people have trouble with the difference between having confidence in yourself and being a "slut". It does piss me off sometimes. But there are some girls my age who wear those clothes and feel the need to flirt with every guy on the planet.

Well in the paper it's says slutty clothes are low rise jeans, leather and lepord skirts, and shorts with word on the but.

Some people won't be satisfied unless all teenage girls are dressed like nuns.
Kay Scarpetta 08-01-2004, 06:45 PM Well the clothes themselves aren't slutty, it's how you present yourself that makes a person a slut.

¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 08-01-2004, 06:58 PM Well, when I walk around the mall nowadays, seriously the lil kiddies dress like whores and theyre all talking on their cellphones acting all sexy. Theyre 14 years old! If I ever wore those things at 14, my parents wouldve sent me to a convent. Its one thing to wear nice sexy clothes, and its another thing as to dress like Britney Spears. What Britney wears on stage is a costume. And Im not saying low-rise jeans are 'slutty'. Im talking about the whole package. 14 year olds should dress like 14 year olds, and lay off the thick makeup. Then again, if I had a body like Britney, Id probably be wearing the same (lack) of clothes as she does. And what Krynan said is true- its how you present yourself in the clothes.

Hollow 08-01-2004, 07:53 PM omg.. this girl at my school dresses like a little slut. she hates me and one time i walked past her wearing a baggy shirt and jeans (i always do) and she said "****ing skank." i didn't even answer.. because i didn't know where to begin.

I agree completely. I have these combat boots, and when I wear them I'll wear them with pants or STOCKINGS and a good length skirt, yet people always say that they're so slutty. They're not stillettos, they're combat boots. I guess people see knee high lace up boots and just write them off as slutty, it's annoying, b/c I'm not dressed that way.
Grr...people annoy me.

THANK YOU....My thoughts exactly. It's sad how all the clothes those days for kids are like that. The fashion industry is trying to sexualize children so they'll be dressed up like little adults. It's sickening. It shouldn't be happening. There HAS to be more choices in clothing than just all those damn low-rises and tight shirts...and for God's sake, get the damn word-on-the-ass pants off the freakin' shelves! They shouldn't be around!
They're considered slutty because they make older men lust after young kids dressed like that, even if it wasn't the kid's intention to do so. Think about it.
If I had left the house dressed the way so many kids are dressed today, my mom would have grounded me. And really....Nobody wants to see your freaking plumber's crack. Pull up those pants already.
Kids don't NEED to be dressing up like adults -- they should just enjoy being kids...they only get to do this for 18 years. They have the rest of their lives after that to be an adult...so really, dressing revealing should be limited to when they become adults. Just don't worry about it at all....IMO.
CheersChild4life 08-01-2004, 10:27 PM I know what you guys are say and I agree. People my age shouldn't be wearing short skirts(with no underwear which is popular at my school now) that show things when they walk. I don't wear low rise jeans or super tight shirt, but most of my friends do and they don't present themselves slutty(besides this one girl I know). I just don't like that people are calling us little whores when really we just aren't.
crystals 08-01-2004, 10:44 PM I agree that it's not how you dress, it's the way a person acts. It's also the perspective of what some people see as "slutty". A person can wear low rise jeans and not be a slut and a person can wear baggy clothes and be a slut. What you wear has nothing to do with how you act.
webuster 08-02-2004, 11:27 AM I agree it's how yo act- it's not the clothes. Personally, I don't like a lot of the clothes girls are wearing, but if you're wearing the clothe for YOU, not to catch glances from every guy- it's not slutty. However, what I do despise is that clothese for 7 year olds appear to be designed by the same people doing Christina Augilera's stage wardrobe.

Tee hee! :D I was feeling nostalgic...I miss my NES. :(
Dutabi84 08-02-2004, 05:24 PM Absolutely not! There are limitations that should be taken, of course. Such as age, like wait til you're 16 or so...and it pisses me off to see chicks in public wearing stuff fitted for girls 50 pounds lighter than them. It's nausiating.

Oh, I'm sure they know, they just don't know it's completely hideous. Sad, but true.

Oh my God, I hate that. There are so many heavy girls at my school that wear clothes that are barely there. I can't stand it when these girls do that. I'm not skinny but I at least have the decency to cover myself up and look presentable.
DollaBill 08-02-2004, 06:39 PM Well, teen girls come fully developed now of days, and I guess they like to wear clothes that accentuate their shape, as did women before them.
It's just hard to seperate women from girls now, IMO. I think the dress code should be toned down atleast until ur 17, leave sumthin for the imagination. Like somebody mentioned Britney before, entertainers pretty much propel the fashoin industry, so if that's all they see, that's what they wanna be.
david&maddie4ever 08-03-2004, 12:44 PM On one hand, I can't stand young girls dressing like they're supermodel-pop star-glamour chicks, but on the other hand, that's where the fashion industry is headed.
I try to dress as modestly as I can, but whenever I go shopping, all I find are low-rise jeans and short, tight shirts. You do the math. It's almost impossible to cover up your ass nowadays...even if you want to.
