View Full Version : Pick ONE depature you wish never happen on one of your Favorite Shows?
TVFactFan 08-01-2004, 02:44 PM There were a lot that was tough for me watching my Favorite shows but I will probably have to say the Character of James Evans being killed off was the one I wish had not happened. Especially since I thought he was the star of the show.
James 08-01-2004, 02:52 PM Two words: OLIVIA WALTON
robyrob 08-01-2004, 03:02 PM Ralph and Richie from Happy Days (happened at the same time)
vashti1999 08-01-2004, 03:18 PM Two words: CHRISSY SNOW
spunkygirl 08-01-2004, 03:23 PM Richie and Ralph on Happy Days
Shirley leaving Laverne and Shirley, and the show going on without her.
Lowell on Wings leaving, the show was not the same without him.

Cosby Show really sucked without her. A Different World was able to sustain her absence by making Whitley the lead
Sterling Holobyte 08-01-2004, 05:24 PM Barney Fife, when he left the Andy Griffith Show.:(
tvfan0101 08-01-2004, 05:52 PM As much as I enjoy the latter seasons of M*A*S*H and the character of BJ, I wish Trapper (Wayne Rogers) never left. The character is my favorite and Wayne Rogers played Trapper oh-so-very well.
The same could be said for all the cast members from M*A*S*H who left over the years. They were all fantastic. The problem is, the characters who replaced them were also fantastic. So on the one hand I wish we had Henry Blake, Trapper John, Radar O'Reilly and Frank Burns for all eleven seasons but on the other and I am glad we got Colonel Potter, BJ and Charles.
Will and Grace Fanatic 08-01-2004, 05:59 PM I wish Lecy who played Becky from season 1-5 and season 8 never left the show. I think she really made that character what it was and very funny. Sara Chalke who replaced her for seasons 6,7,9 could never do it as well as Lecy did.

I must be the only person who hated Lecy's Becky, and loved Sarah's Becky. :)
dlemond 08-02-2004, 12:57 PM Diane on Cheers.
Adamantium 08-02-2004, 05:19 PM When Debbie Allen left "In the House" the show, in my opinion, went to crap. Even if it did last longer without her.
dawsongirl 08-03-2004, 12:20 AM Buz Murdock on Route 66. That other guy was okay, but he was pretty bland and one dimentional.
treky 08-03-2004, 12:53 AM I have a few:
Barney Fife from "The Andy Griffith show"-and took all the black-and-white with him, almost all the cast members exept Fonzie from "Happy Days" in the 2nd season-oh exuse me, it just seemed that way, Trapper, Col. Blake and Radar from "MASH", Rob Reiner and Sally Struthers from "All In The Family", and Cindy Williams from "Laverne & Shirley".
Classic TV Fanatic 08-03-2004, 03:19 AM I have a few as well:
- The departure of Suzanne Somers on Three's Company. Believe it or not but she made a huge impact on the show and it was obvious how crucial it became when she left ... the ratings dipped and thus it was the beginning of the end.
- The departure of Vivian Vance on The Lucy Show. Once Viv left the series, The Lucy Show wasn't ever quite the same.
- The departure of Don Knotts on The Andy Griffith Show.
Pentimento 08-03-2004, 10:20 AM Maybe it doesn't count as a "departure", but I'd have thought someone would have mentioned John Ritter from 8 Simple Rules by now. Also, Phil Hartman from NewsRadio.

Mrs. John Ritter 12-14-2005, 10:44 AM Maybe it doesn't count as a "departure", but I'd have thought someone would have mentioned John Ritter from 8 Simple Rules by now. Also, Phil Hartman from NewsRadio.
I think it counts, and I totally agree with you. When John was gone 8 Simple Rules wasn't the same. They really needed him on the show. It would have done a lot better if he never passed away.
I also pick Chrissy Snow. Even though I like Terri Alden better I still think the show would have done better if Suzanne Somers never got fired.
