View Full Version : You know you're obsessed when.......
Curtis3331 11-01-2001, 10:11 AM 1.You tape Diff'rent Strokes
2.Like the 80's in general (music, etc)
3.You start saying Whatchoo talkin' bout (then say somebody's name)
4.You start wearing argyle sweater vests
5. wear vintage nike shoes from the 80's
6. Start wearing your old vintage Izod polo shirts (remember the alligator logo brand)
I think most of you just tape DS, but I think I'm a major fanatic.
FOL & DS fan 4ever 11-01-2001, 02:08 PM You start saying "say what?"
Curtis3331 11-02-2001, 02:40 PM Hey FOL&DSfan4ever (Paula, right? I still remember http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif) I've notice in some of the earlier episodes when Willis is a teen he starts saying that a lot. I think they were trying to make that his own catchphrase, but then he stopped saying it. Probably b/c it wasn't as funny as Arnold's. I don't know, I thought I just post this. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

I thought that because when Arnold says "What U Talkin Bout?" everyone laughs loudly but when Willis says "Say What?" only a handful of people laugh.
DarleneIllyria 11-02-2001, 04:55 PM roflmao- I say "Whatchootalkinbout____" on a daily basis. Atleast I know I'm not alone, because in my 2nd period class is a guy that says it also. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Lumpy: Did you go out for anything, Dud?
Dudley: Well, I went out for football, but I got my finger stepped on, so my mother made me quit.
Eddie: Well listen-- I went out for basketball and I got my hair pulled, and my mother made ME quit.
Dudley: It's not that I was afraid of getting hurt or anything; it's just that-- well, it's kind o' hard to play the flute with a busted finger.
[Eddie and Lumpy suppress laughter]

Yea, it wasn't as funny Arnold's "Whatchoo talkin' bout" but it was still a good catch phrase. Hey, only Arnold can say Whatchoo talkin' bout, but ANYONE can say "Say What" (I do!!!).
Curtis3331 11-05-2001, 10:01 AM I've started learning how to play chess. I noticed that in several eps. there's always or sometimes someone playing chess. Like when Mr. D was teaching Adelaide and Arnold how to play.
Natalie1969 06-28-2011, 04:10 PM When some one mentions an incident and you can name the episode or when someone names an episode you can name the season.

Curtis, this one's for you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Izp3reFVWc 1:59 ;)
I love how Arnold says "checkers!" :D
You know you're obsessed when you notice the differences between versions of the theme song in the same early season.
Like, one goes "they got nothing but their jeans but they got diff'rent strokes" (straight from "jeans" to "but they got").
and another one goes : "they got nothing but their jeans (one extra instrumental bar)...but they got".
(let's not forget the final "hmmmm" - one has it and not the other :) )
Oh yes, and also when you know when these cheesy electronic drum rolls kick in in the final version of the theme song (as eighties as Willis' hair at that point).

When I start using the phrase Gary Coleman used when he got mad at the cast members on The Insider. He said;
"It is not a volatable relationship. If anyone else wants to believe otherwise, then that is on them. Their lives don't matter to me and your life doesn't matter to me one bit! It doesn't matter!! You can go to hell. You can go to the same place. You can go walk off a plank or get run over by a bus, I don't care!!! She is pushing my buttons, and now, I'm leaving! No!! @#$%^@ you!!!" :)

It only fits in specific situations :D

When someone annoys me, makes me so sick and tired of them to the point where I just want to jump up and punch them in the face, I just use the Gary Coleman phrase (above) instead.
It works all the time!! They do not bother me after that. :)
ThomasE 07-27-2011, 12:16 AM Wow! This topic hasn't been messed with in TEN YEARS! Many people have issues with people bumping up old topics....BUT I DON'T! LOL.

Yeah, in one of the forums that I belonged to, I once did that.
And practically the whole board ganged up on me and I got unfairly banned for supposedly no reason!!!

I am so sorry to hear that. I know it wasn't me because I like nostalgia. There have been a few times old posts would throw me off but I made no big issue about it. I think you reported an issue to me one and I think I helped. It's been a while. If you have another problem on this board DS, then let me know. I get annoyed when people do that. I think in part, they think its safe since its a group effort. LOL. It's ridiculous to me.

Thanx, ThomasE.
No problems at all since that last one where a member kept on arguing with me.
