View Full Version : Favorite dramatic Joe speech
HackettJ 07-29-2004, 03:13 PM Given it's a sitcom and all this may seem a little weird, but there are times when the show got dramatic and through the flawless acting of Tim Daly, Joe's given some great speeches.
Some of the great ones i've seen are:
- the "I want you out of my life" speech after brian burned down his house
- the "i raised brian" to the ghost of his dad in the aftermath of the "i want you out of my life"
- the "we should be together" speech to helen when she was gonna marry that other guy
- my personal favorite, the "My life sucks!" speech after everyone kept pestering joe with little problems while he was trying to recover a lost briefcase
it's been a long time since i've seen all the episodes and i'm catching up thanks to nick at nite, but if there's any i missed, feel free to chime in!
Krista2882 07-30-2004, 09:27 AM I think my favorites were the speech to Helen in the elevator, when he asked her to marry him instead of Davis, and the "where do I go when it finally dawns on me that my life sucks" speech from the "Joe Blows" episode.

Those are my favorites too. I also love when he's trying to talk Bob out of shooting Antonio and he winds up pissing off the rest of his friends! And when his mother returns after many years.
That's one thing I love about Wings. They could be dramatic at times, but they didn't get all sappy and stuff like in other sitcoms.
HackettJ 07-30-2004, 05:21 PM god, i forgot about when his mom came back, that one was touching too:)
pilotguy 07-31-2004, 01:00 AM "The Elevator Proposal", "I Want You Out Of My Life, Brian" and others....they were all great!
I love "Wings" because when a character DOES have a serious, dramatic moment, it's done in a natural way....
Some other sitcoms get serious and you feel like the actors are saying, "Everybody stand back...We're going to ACT now!", but the folks on "Wings" don't make it seem that way.
Maybe that's why it's so easy for us to think of the "Wings" characters as "real people" and our FRIENDS...because their acting WAS so natural and convincing that it brought us into their lives.
webteen 07-31-2004, 04:04 AM Lol.. That was a very dramatic speech..
I'm trying my best to get into comedy and maybe someday be on a sitcom. :p
phoebe7165 08-12-2004, 08:43 AM I don't know why but everytime I hear Joe's ranting on the Joe Blows episode, and he comes to the part where he says "Where do I go, when it finally dawns on me that my life sucks", I never fail to get tears in my eyes.
HelenandJoe213 09-07-2004, 05:57 PM Definatley the elevator speech, no questions asked what-so-ever! I also like the "I want you out of my life Brian." I love Wings damn it, they best put the show on DVD very soon.
spunkygirl 09-08-2004, 09:43 PM The elevator speech def. also in Joe Blows, it's not technically a speech but very dramatic when Joe finally "blows"
Kristen 09-08-2004, 10:01 PM I love "The Elevator Proposal" (Even though I slept through it the other night!!). All of his "yelling at Brian" moments were good, too.
HelenandJoe213 09-08-2004, 10:07 PM I think my favorite line is when he says something to the effect "growing old together, having eachothers kids, that's our marriage."
Yes I'd like my Joe clone please. Please??? Come on where is my clone of Joe? Hmph.
