what TV-DVD was the first one you bought?

my first purchase was the first season of Sex And The City in early 2001. Back then, S&TC and X-Files were about the only tv-DVD's available

My first tv related dvd was the miniseries Roots, which I got early 2002 then School House Rock! - Special 30th Anniversary Edition which I bought the day it was released in August 2002. For series, I didn't get my first season set until I got Sopranos Season 3 on eBay in January 2003.

Before I even had a DVD player I bought "The Simpsons: The Complete First Season". I watched it on my computer. Early on, I also bought "M*A*S*H: Season 1" and "The X-Files: Season 1."

I voted online which format I'd like for shows to come to DVD. I was shocked at the thought of complete seasons coming to DVD. I was also very happy. A dream come true. Now I'm just hoping for more of my favorite shows to come. But that's a different thread.

yes, I remember back in the day when a complete season on DVD seemed to unlikely... when shows like South Park and Friends were coming out in "best of" sets and the thought of them having complete seasons seemed strange

Although I DEFINATELY prefer Season Sets, a show like South Park could work with "best ofs".

As for Friends.... its a waste of time unless you get it in Seasons.

Ummm.

I brought "Classic Commercials" in May 2003, but that doesn't count. Hmmm, so then. "The Carol Burnett Show Stoppers" was my first one ever - May 2003. I followed up with Cheers - Season 1 and Three's Company Season 1, both in November 2003. I haven't stopped. :D

You can probably assume from all my tv-dvd posts that I'm either incredibly obsessed, incredibly bored, or both. Anyway, I've pretty much kept track of my dvd purchases since early on, and here's how my tv-dvd buying has gone so far:

Jan 2002 - Dec 2002 --> 2 tv dvds (the entire twelve months)
Jan 2003 - June 2003 --> 5
July 2003 - Dec 2003 --> 12
Jan 2004 - June 2004 --> 15
July 2004 - Present --> 2 (this is going to go way up by the time Dec. 2004 arrives)

This past May was my biggest month, I bought 5 that month. I might set a new record soon.

what TV-DVD was the first one you bought?

When I actually had a DVD player (Which i didnt use hardily ever) I got LAND OF THE LOST (70s) and I didnt really like watching them that way...... They seemed sterile and not like I remembered watching them in analogue on cable TV......

I love analogue so much.... It would be nice if Land of the lost came out on VHS like Star trek did! (I have every star trek episode)

For me it was the Gerry Anderson "Supermarionation" series Thunderbirds in December, 2002. By the end of 2003 I had acquired Captain Scarlett, Joe 90, Stingray, Supercar, Fireball XL-5 and Secret Service along with UFO and Space: 1999. If I only knew what would happen three years later!

My very first TV DVD sets that I bought were The Simple Life and I liked the show because Paris Hilton was my role model and idol at the time and I found it for really cheap at Target for $5,00. And then I was given Full House and Grey's Anatomy for Christmas and I have collected TV DVD sets ever since. Some of my TV DVD sets came from my aunt too because she collects TV DVD sets as well

The first TV show DVD that I actually bought wasn't a classic sitcom or classic show, it was the Survivor All Stars season from 2004 where Boston Rob and Amber went to the end of the game. I thought Boston Rob was amusing that season, he sort of became a Survivor celebrity, he should have won that season but he blindsided too many people which resulted in several pissed off jury members and Amber getting just enough votes to win. But it really didn't matter because Rob and Amber became engaged so Rob basically got the money anyway. He got the money AND he got the girl too. :lol: Then he played Survivor a few more times until he finally did win and got another million dollars. :lol: :lol:
