This isnt a "what show do you want on dvd" thread.
This is asking what shows are you suprised to find out that they aren't on DVD yet??

View Full Version : Series You're Most Suprised That Isnt on DVD?? barwars 07-28-2004, 11:18 PM This isnt a "what show do you want on dvd" thread. This is asking what shows are you suprised to find out that they aren't on DVD yet?? barwars 07-28-2004, 11:19 PM 3 Series, all from Paramount.... The Brady Bunch The Odd Couple and Get Smart vashti1999 07-28-2004, 11:38 PM Definitely the #1 surprise is the Brady Bunch. I'd think that would be out already, it has such a popular following. tvparadise 07-29-2004, 12:05 AM - Bewitched - Brady Bunch - MacGyver - Baywatch - Miami Vice - In The Heat of The Night treky 07-29-2004, 12:39 AM Gunsmoke Bonnanza The High Chaparell (also called "The Men From Shilo") and a lot more of the westerns. Maybe some of these are, though. I haven't checked in a while. Also, I'm surprised that a lot more episodes of "The Beverly Hillbilies" aren't on DVD. They only have something like 3 or 4 (and no extras, which is also suprising) Classic TV Fanatic 07-29-2004, 02:13 AM - The Brady Bunch - The Wonder Years spunkygirl 07-29-2004, 04:09 AM Brady Bunch Growing Pains Silver Spoons With Smallville being released on DVD, I am very surprised that the Adventures of Superman, and Lois and Clark aren't on DVD yet EmoJoe 07-29-2004, 01:43 PM Brady Bunch Growing Pains Bewitched I Dream of Jeannie The Facts of Life Full House barwars 07-29-2004, 03:57 PM Originally posted by Classic TV Fanatic - The Wonder Years You shouldnt be too suprised about that one, its being held up because of music rights. As for The Brady Bunch -- why it isn't out yet is a mystery. vashti1999 07-29-2004, 04:13 PM Originally posted by barwars You shouldnt be too suprised about that one, its being held up because of music rights. As for The Brady Bunch -- why it isn't out yet is a mystery. I'm looking for the link to another website where I read the info. It's another forum, and someone mentioned Robert Reed's estate is responsible for holding it up. Not sure how true that is, this person was probably just speculating. If I find it, I'll post it here. barwars 07-29-2004, 04:36 PM Originally posted by vashti1999 I'm looking for the link to another website where I read the info. Well that sucks. I know they won't allow him on any merchandise, but I always though video products would be different. spunkygirl 07-29-2004, 04:38 PM Originally posted by barwars Well that sucks. I don't see how his estate could effect the show coming out on DVD cause if that were so, wouldn't it effect the show being shown on TVLAND? I mean it's pretty much the same thing. vashti1999 07-29-2004, 07:35 PM Originally posted by vashti1999 I'm looking for the link to another website where I read the info. One thing that would be interesting to find out is how the estate of Robert Reed (which has not allowed his likeness to be used in Brady related merchandising) will impact potential DVD releases and/or related marketing thereof. For the sake of those who are fans of this show, I would hope there is no impact. I guess this is the thing I was looking for, it was just some guys comment on another forum, and he didn't really say anything concrete about Robert Reed's estate barring a dvd release. So, basically, forget what I said. dawsongirl 07-30-2004, 12:47 AM Originally posted by Angela Micelli With Smallville being released on DVD, I am very surprised that the Adventures of Superman, and Lois and Clark aren't on DVD yet Especially with it not being shown (nationally anyway). Chelsea 07-30-2004, 03:21 AM Bewitched (8 Seasons), Jeannie (5 seasons, but extremely popular in reruns), Facts of Life (9 seasons), Cosby Show (8 Seasons), Brady Bunch (5 Seasons, but extremely popular in reruns), Family Matters (9 Seasons), Odd Couple (5 Seasons, popular in reruns), Get Smart (5 seasons, popular in reruns [noticing a pattern], Growing Pains (8 seasons), Bonanza (14 Seassons), Gunsmoke(TWENTY seasons), Knots Landing (14 seasons).... All the shows had decent runs (The lowest being 5 years by the likes of Jeannie, Brady, Odd Couple, and Get Smart...on up to the 14/20 range by the Westerns and Knots). I can't explain the 5-season shows not being released, but maybe the reason the shows like Facts, et al. aren't being released IS the facts that they DID run for around 10 years each... I'm also surprised they've never released Jeffersons Season 3...it's been, what, a year and a half? By the way, Miami Vice IS coming to DVD...
