This isnt a "what show do you want on dvd" thread.
This is asking what shows are you suprised to find out that they aren't on DVD yet??

Definitely the #1 surprise is the Brady Bunch. I'd think that would be out already, it has such a popular following.

Gunsmoke

Bonnanza

The High Chaparell (also called "The Men From Shilo")
and a lot more of the westerns.

Maybe some of these are, though. I haven't checked in a while.

Also, I'm surprised that a lot more episodes of "The Beverly Hillbilies" aren't on DVD. They only have something like 3 or 4 (and no extras, which is also suprising)

With Smallville being released on DVD, I am very surprised that the Adventures of Superman, and Lois and Clark aren't on DVD yet

You shouldnt be too suprised about that one, its being held up because of music rights.
As for The Brady Bunch -- why it isn't out yet is a mystery.

I'm looking for the link to another website where I read the info. It's another forum, and someone mentioned Robert Reed's estate is responsible for holding it up. Not sure how true that is, this person was probably just speculating. If I find it, I'll post it here.

Well that sucks. I know they won't allow him on any merchandise, but I always though video products would be different.

I don't see how his estate could effect the show coming out on DVD cause if that were so, wouldn't it effect the show being shown on TVLAND? I mean it's pretty much the same thing.

One thing that would be interesting to find out is how the estate of Robert Reed (which has not allowed his likeness to be used in Brady related merchandising) will impact potential DVD releases and/or related marketing thereof. For the sake of those who are fans of this show, I would hope there is no impact.

I guess this is the thing I was looking for, it was just some guys comment on another forum, and he didn't really say anything concrete about Robert Reed's estate barring a dvd release. So, basically, forget what I said.

Especially with it not being shown (nationally anyway).

Bewitched (8 Seasons), Jeannie (5 seasons, but extremely popular in reruns), Facts of Life (9 seasons), Cosby Show (8 Seasons), Brady Bunch (5 Seasons, but extremely popular in reruns), Family Matters (9 Seasons), Odd Couple (5 Seasons, popular in reruns), Get Smart (5 seasons, popular in reruns [noticing a pattern], Growing Pains (8 seasons), Bonanza (14 Seassons), Gunsmoke(TWENTY seasons), Knots Landing (14 seasons)....

All the shows had decent runs (The lowest being 5 years by the likes of Jeannie, Brady, Odd Couple, and Get Smart...on up to the 14/20 range by the Westerns and Knots). I can't explain the 5-season shows not being released, but maybe the reason the shows like Facts, et al. aren't being released IS the facts that they DID run for around 10 years each...

I'm also surprised they've never released Jeffersons Season 3...it's been, what, a year and a half?

By the way, Miami Vice IS coming to DVD...
