It's not particularly funny to make fun of the mentally handicapped.

People, like myself, who are very close to someone who has a mental handicap might not find this funny.

I certainly don't.

Making fun of mentally disabled people is awful. Just like how many kids I know pretend to have seizures and make fun of people who have them.

but we shouldn't be too harsh on omega2. he probably didn't realize he was making fun of the mentally disabled.

I always saw it as making fun of the problem, not the person, but oh well. I'll stop there before I get pissed with :)

Michael [hXc]
07-27-2004, 09:28 PM
It seems that way with seizures. I really don't think kids who imitate seizures are trying to make fun of people with them, but just since they think seizures look funny. But I still don't think people should do that.:)

What pisses me off is that everyone on here keeps telling omega2 that he needs mental help, should see a psychiatrist etc. I also believe they said that whoever made the picture of the dead cat Brett posted is morbid and has serious mental issues. Even if you were only half kidding do any of you even know what defines mental insanity? Making pictures on photoshop and posting **** on a message board doesn't.

Seriously. I LOVE cats and i found that funny. people need to chill out. not that they had to fall on the floor laughing but i really fail to see what is so freaking "morbid" and "evil" about someone making a stupid picture of a cat in photoshop, especially that thing about them having mental problems because of it.

The problem itself is NOT funny. What exactly is so amusing about mental or physical handicaps?

He probably means someone who would take care of you in that mental hospital, a care taker, aka carer :)

let me apologise to anyone who found the montage offensive. it was never intended to be, and was in fact a messege for tolerance, considerateness to all people, including the mentally handicapped.

if you think about it, the 'patient' in the montage has a 'humanity' about him the cleverer 'carer' lacks, and thus the carer gets his deserved comeuppance when he is rendered unconcious by the blow dealt him. he should have treated the patient with patience and gentleness from the start!

and thanks for all the responses!:)

omega2, just to let you know, it didn't offend me, but I just posted the handicapped thing because some people here might be. But good montage though:lol:

I can be a bit overly sensitive at times due to my own mild physical handicap. I didn't mean to sound angry.
