Chambers 07-26-2004, 05:15 PM ...arrogant?
I would have to say Frasier and Cheers fans. But come on...we have a right to be arrogant.
And I just proved my point. :p
CliffClavin 07-26-2004, 05:20 PM Homer's happy about that :
Chambers 07-26-2004, 05:26 PM I just realized this thread may not be best suited for the chit chat board...I only posted it here because it has no substance...if that makes any sense.
Moondance 07-26-2004, 06:24 PM This thread is too true! We are arrogant fans, aren't we? I know I am! lol

The Division fans are crazy. I'm a fan but I don't know. I stopped obsessing a while ago. Every now and then we get one of those fans. You know, the ones that are overly obsessed with Nancy McKeon or Bonnie Bedelia and stir things up. Yeah, those. But other than that, things have calmed down.

Oh, I'll admit it without a problem... I'm one hell of an arrogant ass when it comes to The West Wing. It probably originates from my love of politics.
Kristina 07-27-2004, 01:16 AM I was an arrogant Facts of Life fan. Whenever anyone insulted FOL or Tootie I would get really mad.
Also, does anyone remember when everyone hated Cheers because it took the place of Facts of Life on NickatNite? I remember when people were talking about bombing their headquarters and going in there with guns shooting everyone. lolz.
Janice 07-27-2004, 03:07 AM I don't know about arrogant, but some boards are not too welcoming to newcomers. I won't mention any boards, but I got into a certain show last year, so I started posting on that show's board. They are a nice group of people, but very tight-knit. I would write polite, interesting, funny and analytical posts about the show, and only one member would respond, and a second member occasionally.
Finally, I said screw this and never went back. They were only friendly towards each other. I felt invisible.
Actually, this happened to me at two boards. The other was a couple of years ago. For the most part, the people at these sitcom boards are very welcoming. A smart moderator will make sure a newcomer feels welcome. The more, the merrier.
Chambers 07-27-2004, 11:06 AM I remember you over at the Cheers board. Aren't you the one who said she got all of the Bostonian references in the show? You should come by more often :).
Brian Damage 07-27-2004, 11:15 AM Hopefully Janice, it wasn't one of the boards I moderate(Cheers, Seinfeld) because I believe in the philosophy the more the merrier. I'd love to see you drop by more often.

So true, she's one of the rare ones, to break the typecast. but I remember she did an interview once, and said she'd never do a WTB reunion, she wanted to move forward from WTB, which I can understand, and a reunion would not hurt her career.

I agree.
If anything.... The Cosby Show is the LEAST racist TV show of all time.
Chambers 07-29-2004, 08:48 PM Let me just offer an alternate (and what I believe to be more accurate) definition of racism that will hopefully conclude this argument (and hopefully will not start another one). Racism can't simply be defined by attitudes. Forget the Merriam-Webster definition. Racism is "prejudice in collusion with personal and institutional power." I learned this definition at a lecture about racism and found something similar in an article on the internet. If you're interested, click here to learn more (http://husky1.stmarys.ca/~hmillar/racism.htm).
Anyway, I don't know why that person posted that comment about Cosby in this thread. It has nothing to do with what we were talking about.

I agree.
If anything.... The Cosby Show is the LEAST racist TV show of all time.
what pissed me off is that people at the time it aired were making a big deal that an African American family had a lawyer for a mother and a doctor for a father. they said that it was unrealistic. how is that unrealistic?
