Sure, three chord progressions, simple lyrics and the rest of the cliches apply. Nobody did it better though for just PURE PARTY ROCK in my humble opinion. One of my favorite bands of all time and I own every CD released by AC/DC (owned most of the earlier ones on vinyl, 8 track and cassette at one time too)

Wow, 8 track? Ah, those were the days. OK, my thoughts on AC/DC. I was never a huge, huge fan. Sorry. They are one of the very few bands who I've never seen in concert, but might go see, just to see them live at least once. But for not being a huge fan, there are still quite a few songs that I do like from them, most of them being songs that are played on the radio, since I'm not too familiar with their 'deeper cuts'.

Of course, the usual radio staples--Back in Black and Hells Bells, but I also like Shoot to Thrill; For Those About to Rock(We Salute You); Whole Lotta Rosie; Rock & Roll Ain't Noise Pollution; Girls Got Rhythm...

I've gotta to dislike "You Shook Me All Night Long" although I know it's probably alot of people's favorites. I have my reasons for not liking that song, I rather not get into.

And lastly, I heard a parody on a radio station of Dirty Deeds, and it was called "Dirty Deeds Done With Sheep"!!:sheep :grineyes: It's scary that people have the time to sit around and think of this stuff!!

they were their best with Bon Scott IMO... the early Brian Johnson albums were good too, but I think after For Those About To Rock (We Salute You), they should've called it a day.

AC/DC????!!!!! OMG WHERE DO I START????!!!!!!

AC/DC was actually a little more than a simple hard rock band with three chords (but heck, they've got so much mileage out of those three chords!!!), when you consider that Angus Young is the master of blues licks--he just does it all his way.

I've seen AC/DC three times, the first was when they opened for Ted Nugent (with Cheap Trick also on the bill) at the Seattle Center Coliseum (now the Key Arena) in 1978. I had never heard of them before, but some friends had told me they were great in concert. So I was really amazed, I thought, gee, this band has a sharp, quick, to-the-point sound, really good sounding rock, not like anything much I had heard up to that point. But I was wondering: "Is that guy in the schoolboy outfit really gonna take off ALL his clothes??":eek: :lol:

I don't think the crowd knew what to expect, a lot of people later said they thought the band was "punk".:confused:

But a year later, AC/DC were all over the place with Highway to Hell, and a year after that, they conquered the planet with Back In Black. I did get to see them in 1996 and was knocked over by Angus Young's playing. I sat there thinking, my gosh he has got some excellent tone in his playing. He is one of the best.

Last September I was going through major frustrating computer problems and the only thing that kept my sanity was, they were playing AC/DC all day!!! I couldn't believe how good their songs were, even after you've heard them for years. That really kept my mind off my troubles. AC/DC RULES!!!:rock: :guitar: :guitar: :rock:

I love AC/DC. Sure, most of their songs sound the same, but it's a great song! I really like many of the early Bon Scott albums like Let There Be Rock and Highway To Hell. Though their work with Brian Johnson has been of varied quality, both Back In Black and For Those About To Rock are probably the bands best two albums. I also really like 1985's Fly On The Wall, though most fans don't. 1986's Who Made Who, which was the closest the band ever got to a hits collection also features some great songs. The albums they have been turing out since the late 1980's have been rather mixed is quality, with the exception of the excellent 1992 Live album. AC/DC remain a great live band.

Love AC/DC. Their hit song "Hells Bells" has been immortalized here in San Diego. Whenever San Diego Padres closer Trevor Hoffman comes in in a save situation, they play this song. It's been a tradition here at Qualcomm Stadium/Petco Park since 1998.
