What are your favorite musical moments in sitcoms? I like the episode of Laverne and Shirley where Laverne is in prison and sings "I am going to a place where I can sit down".

The Rent Party episode of Good Times with Florida, Willona and Thelma as the Supremes and Michael singing "When You're Young and In Love"

The Huxtables doing "Nighttime is the Right Time" on the Cosby Show

Willis and his band performing "Love Has Got Me Dancing" on Diff'rent Strokes

Ginger, Mary Ann and Mrs. Howell as the Honeybees on an episode of Gilligan's Island

Any Brady Bunch musical performance

The whole gang at Cheers, non-regulars included -- pounding out "We Will Rock You" on various things around the bar, until everybody's pounding and clapping and eventually singing.
And then.... segue into the themesong.
CLASSIC.

I like the "Henny Penny" episode of "The Golden Girls."
Niles singing "Six Bucks an Hour" on "The Nanny"
And of course Mary singing (badly) "One for My Baby" on "Mary Tyler Moore."
Also any of Rob and Laura's dance numbers on DVD.

Boy Meets World "Last Tango in Philly"

When Eric, Feeny, Cory, Shawn, Alan, and Jack all dance, and lip sync to "Hot Stuff"(I think that's the song).

That was great! :D

Laverne & Shirley - Lenny and Squiggy perform "Night After Night" in a Shotz talent show and "The Jolliest Fatman" at a charity concert

Happy Days - Joanie and Fonzie win the Dance Marathon, Fonzie dances as Richie and gang perform "Do the Fonzie"

Mary Tyler Moore - Mary sings "One For My Baby and One More For the Road" and the whole gang sings "It's a Long Way to Tipperary"

I Love Lucy - Fred and Ethel perform "Carolina in the Morning", Rocky sings "Big Straw Hat", and any of Lucy's performances

Bewitched - Serena sings "Blow You a Kiss in the Wind"

Cheers - the whole bar sings "You'll Never Walk Alone" to Carla

those are all I can think of for now

The only one I can think of right now is from Cheers. Sam turns on the jukebox and it starts playing "Shout". Carla starts dancing all around the bar. It was hilarious!:D

It's absolutely hilarious, and she does it so seriously. It's one of my all-time favorite TDVDS moments.

I also like all of Rob & Lauras song & dances on "TDVDS", as well as the aformentioned scene in "Cheers" where the entire bar's singing "We Will Rock You".
I also like the scene in "MASH" where they're all singing "I Don't Want No More Of Army Life" in the episode "Movie Tonight" (the one where they're all watching a western and the projector keeps breaking).

Oh, how could I forget about that?! The lyrics to that song are hysterical, and it's like Millie doesn't even realize how bad it is, LOL! "But seriously, darling, you're OK!"

haha. Millie was one of my favorite parts of TDVDS. Actually -- next to Buddy, she's my favorite.

Speaking of TDVDS, the GREATEST Musical Sitcom Moment of all time is on the Christmas Episode were the cast has to perform on The Alan Brady Show.
Buddy, Sally, Laura, and Mel are all singing "Alan Brady, Alan Brady, Alan Br-a-dy, Alan Brady" while Rob is the conductor.

And then, the one of the funniest things Ive ever seen happened -- They keep singing "Alan Brady, Alan Brady, Alan Br-a-dy" and then Buddy sings out "Bud-dy Sor-rell"

hahaha
funniest thing Ive ever seen.

In the Square Pegs episode "A Cafeteria Line", Sarah Jessica Parker sings at the end and it is absolutely beautiful. She had such an amazing voice.

Another great musical M*A*S*H moment is Hotlips singing "My Blue Heaven" backed up by Hawkeye, Trapper and Radar, under the direction of Henry Blake.

I think it was in the first "Dear Dad" episode.

Alice -
Episode #151, Alice Faces the Music. I love it when the question was asked and Alice answered it. Then she burst into song Anything Goes. That was cool.

Episode #110, Alice's Son, the Dropout. Linda Lavin knew she sung the song It's Wonderful and played for herself on the piano. I stood up and applauded when she sung that. I love it in that episode when she, Vera and Belle sung Don't Fence Me In. They looked as though they were having fun.

The Dick Van Dyke Show-
The Christmas Episode. Dick and Mary's song and dance number in that episode was over the top. They were the best song and dance sitcom couple on TV. They were like Fred and Ginger and it looked natural when they did their song and dance selections.

Eight Is Enough -
Episode #35, Who's On First?
When Betty Buckley sung "SO LA" (music by Jim Hurt, Ira Newborn & Betty Buckley who also wrote the lyrics). That episode was dealing with the telethon the family was in. The camera shots in that episode was outstanding when Betty sung and what a powerful voice.

Full House - Anytime when John Stamos sang. He got a good voice and the songs they had him do was appropriate for that character.

Too Close for Comfort -
Season 2 opener when Muriel found out she was pregnant and she was taking out to dinner. The restaurant had an open mike and she took it and sung Zing With The Strings of My Heart. Nancy Dussault is a powerhouse singer.

The New Dick Van Dyke Show -
Episode #45, The Jailbird. Dick and Bernie got pulled into jail. Carol, Bernie's wife came to bail them out. A group of singers were there also. Them and Carol did Joy to the World together and it was good. Also, Carol, Nancy Dussault played her, sung Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. It was beautiful

Episode 22, The Telethon. Nancy Dussault got to display her singing talents and it was very good.

MAMA’S FAMILY – Mama, Fran and Naomi lip-sync to Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy. This is a very heartwarming scene to me because the way it bridges the generation gap, especially when all the punk rock kids start dancing to it with Mama’s family.

THE LUCY SHOW – The entire Wing-Ding sequence from the episode Lucy in the Music World. Although it doesn’t feature any of the cast, it perfectly captures that frenetic mid-60s spirit of go-go boots, long hair and British Invasion in a campy only-on-TV way.

THE DONNA REED SHOW – Mary (Shelley Fabares) sings Johnny Angel as Donna looks on with pride and amazement.

GILLIGAN’S ISLAND – The Honeybees sing You Need Me.

PETTICOAT JUNCTION – The girls perform I Saw Him Standing There amazingly VERY soon after the Beatles performance on Ed Sullivan. I am so glad they cleared this on the S1 DVDs.

HERE’S LUCY – Craig (Desi Arnaz Jr) and Ann-Margret sing Country Magic

THE BRADY BRUNCH – It’s a Sunshine Day and Keep On. ‘Nuff said.

MARY TYLER MOORE – Georgette performs Steam Heat at the Teddy Awards in top hat and tails

ONE DAY AT A TIME – Julie and Barbara sing Don’t Go Breaking My Heart

ALICE – Alice and the Acorns sing At the Hop (love Vera doing the “oh baby’s”)

THE GOLDEN GIRLS – Dorothy and Sophia sing I Got You Babe (especially Dorothy’s emphasis on the word “babe” LOL)

DESIGNING WOMEN – Anthony and Suzanne (in blackface) doing Love Is Strange

ROSEANNE – Bonnie stunning everyone at the BBQ tearing through You Really Got a Hold on Me

BEWITCHED – All of Serena’s musical numbers (The Iff’n Song, Rock & Roll Baby, Blow You a Kiss in the Wind)

GLEE - S1 when Rachel sings Don't Rain on My Parade at sectionals

Designing Women - Anthony and Charlene singing "Burning Love," in the episode, "E.P. Phone Home."

Golden Girls - Dorothy and Rose writing and singing different songs about Miami in the episode, "Big Daddy's Little Lady."

Cheers - The group starts humming the theme song to a movie they want to see, starting with Norm and then eventually they all join in and run out the door to go watch the movie.

Cheers - Carla is singing a lullaby to one of her children over the phone and the whole bar joins in.

I forgot my all-time favorite: The very last episode of "The Lucy/Desi Comedy Hour", with Ernie Kovacs as guest star. Lucy and Desi were not even speaking, except when the script called for it, and they would divorce as soon as filming stopped. When Ernie's wife, Edie Adams, sings a beautiful version of "That's All", it felt like the end of an era.
