About two months ago, a posted a poll asking everyone what their favorite cable channel was. Now, heres one aslong what your LEAST favorite cable channel is.

Mine:
Nick@Nite

They have great shows but the way they air them is sickening, IMO.

Out of that list I'd pick MTV but the channels I watch the least are The Travvel Channel, The Discovery Channel, and The Learning Channel.

Yeah, out of those it was a toss-up between MTV and WE, but I chose MTV because at least WE has some redeeming qualities!

Disney Channel is the worst, I have a few choice words for them, but I won't say them :D

I would never watch MTV in a million years.

In a close second, is ABCFamily who really knows how to butcher a show (This doesn't count the CBN programming. I actually like CBN.).

EDIT: How could I forget Spike TV, that is a horrible network.

MTV and the Home Shopping Network.

what MTV stands for today is a direct contradiction of what it stood for from 1981-1996. Even tho in the mid-90's, they had non-music programming like Singled Out and Real World, they still showed a lot of videos... yet now, they treat music-related programming as nothing more but a hinderence

Do I have to pick just one?

I guess I'll choose The Disney Channel, then.

I picked MTV, even though I presently do not have cable (used to). Spike TV, aka The No Longer Nashville Network, would probably receive my vote had it been on the list.

CMT(Country Music Television). I got banned from their message boards today because I complained about the spamming on there and they don't talk about country music on there.
MTV
Spike TV(a.k.a. The former Nashville Network)

The channel I dislike the most is not listed. The BET Channel (Black Entertainment Channel). I can't stand that channel. I also do not like MTV, since it's nowhere near what it was in the 1980's. MTV wouldn't be so bad if they got rid of all the rap music videos and reality shows they air.

That was uncalled for. I have never said I dislike black people. I even have a friend that is black. I am not racist, and to imply that I am is very rude. I have every right to like or not like what I want to. Your comments are unnecessary.

I never said that. I was just offering a suggestion on how to improve MTV.

Please, as if it's not obvious enough with your scientifically compounded list of shows you don't like. You act like every other person who denies being a racist. To even deny something like this when the evidence is so clear is ludacrist. Now if you don't mind, I'm off to watch a marathon of Chappel's Show followed by some music videos on BET.

I am not a racist. Believe whatever you want, but I know the truth, you don't. You're not me. You do not, however, have the right to call me a racist when I am not. Just because I complied a list of shows I don't like does not make me a racist. Why would I have a friend who is black if I was racist? Why would have been friends with her now for eleven years since 8th grade? Why would I talk to her on the phone? So you can take your "assumptions" somewhere else. You know what they say about people who "assume" things. Yes, they make an *ss out of themselves.

Honey, I've been doing this for years. I got over that whole "looking like an ass" stage years ago, now that I'm a well established board ouster. I'm not the only one who knows this...I'm just the only one who confronted you about it. Frankly because I've gotten sick of it. Please, pulling out the whole "I have a black friend so I can't be racist" card doesn't work. I have a gay friend. I guess that automatically disqualifies me from being homophobic right? No matter what I say, I can't possibly be one because of my friendship to a gay person, right? Thought so. How about we just drop it? You may say whatever you want to defend yourself, but me and most everyone else who's been reading your posts have enough undeniable proof to think whatever we want of you, whether or not you deny it.

well, I'm not pointing fingers, but just posting from observing point. The list of "tv shows I dislike that others liked" did seem a little lopsided in favor against predominantly African-American shows. Had you listed a lot of "white" shows you disliked as well, it might've looked differently, but you had down just about every major African-American sitcom that aired. Not liking Cosby or a few others is one thing, but a lot of people could make the assumption that one is racist by all the shows listed. I mean, if someone listed every single gay-related series, I could see where people would make the assumption the person was anti-gay.

I don't like rap music either, but IMO, it's not the only thing dragging MTV down, there's just as many bad white artists getting airplay on the station.

What are you sick of? I simply replied to the question. It doesn't have anything to do with color. For example, if Bill Cosby was white I would hate him just as much. It's not a card. I get along with people that are white and I get along with people who are black. Just because I have more white friends doesn't make me racist and just because I have a black frined doesn't mean I have an "excuse" as you are implying that I have. I will first watch a show before I decide whether I like it. So the shows I listed are listed for a reason, because I don't like them, not because they are black shows. There are black shows that I didn't list because I haven't seen them and so I won't say that I don't like them without seeing them first. Now if I had listed black shows as being those I didn't like without watching them then yes, I could see why someone would think that I was racist, but that's not what has happened here. I went through the different catagories and listed shows both white and black that I didn't like.

By the way as far as MTV is concerned my point was that not only do I not care for the rap vidoes, but I also do not like the reality shows. I also don't like shows like South Park and Beavis and Butt Head which were on MTV at some point and probably still are. Those are white cartoons. I hate Eminem and he's white. I hate rap music whether it's a white or a black person singing it, I cant' stand it. So, you can think what you want, but "confronting" me over something that isn't true is stupid. So, now the issue can be dropped. It's too bad you had to jump to conclusions.

I don't think anyone who doesn't have heavy race issues would put this much effort into denying that they do. By the way, you need to watch Method & Red, the Monday night UPN sitcoms, etc. At least be thorough with your bias.

I wouldn't have to defend myself if people would stop accusing me of something that I'm not. How would you like it if someone was accusing you of being something you're not? Let's say the person said you were racist if you weren't? You're telling me that you wouldn't stand up for yourself? Yeah right! By the way how can someone deny something if it's not true to begin with?

The proliferation of cable channels is definitely getting out of hand, so it's hard to pick just one least favorite.

DirecTV recently added a NASA channel (the space walks are sort of interesting), something that appears to be an all-Catholic channel, a BYU channel (of interest to Mormons and BYU alumni, perhaps) and the RFD channel which has programs for farmers. Last night I spent ten minutes mesmerized by a bizarre spectacle called Big Joe's Polka Show. Words can not adequately describe the sights and sounds of a gathering of rural folks, polka-ing gleefully across a plywood dance floor while a band of senior citizens played slightly off-tempo and sang decidedly off-key. (One singer was so bad, he shook his head in frustration after his solo...)

Let me emphasize that I'm not anti-farmer (or anti-Mormon or anti-Catholic or anti-astronaut). I just have a strong dislike for extremely bad TV of any kind. If anyone thinks we need more cable channels, they should be forced to watch RFD for an evening.

there's a difference with just disliking Cosby, or just disliking Fresh Prince, or whatever. But that list included EVERY well-known African-American sitcom in history, even a classic well-liked show as The Jeffersons was included. Yes, a lot of the UPN shows aren't that good, but she even included shows like Good Times, The Jeffersons, Sanford And Son and A Different World, shows that are regarded quite a bit better than Moesha is.

I mean, nothing wrong with disliking a show, but from the looks of it, Jen didn't like ONE series with a black character on it period, not even the classic ones.

IF her list of "white shows" had been as long, or longer... including many quote-on-quote "white classics", people wouldn't single her out, but it was kinda weird when 80% of her list were black sitcoms.

I just read posts here and am a lurker and I've noticed Jen1989's hatred towards Bill Cosby (and any other thing African American related). What has that man ever done to YOU? So what if the Cosby Show airs a lot. Is HE making you watch it? Half your damn posts about The Cosby Show (Or TCS as you like to call it) and why it shouldn't be on the air. If it weren't for The Cosby Show your favorite Family Ties would not have even made it past a few seasons and Michael J. Fox would not have been a movie star. Imagine, he wouldn't even be in the Back to the Future movies.

You haven't even seen one episode of The Cosby Show I bet. You're just jealous the show does well and nothing you like does (think Jeff Foxworthy Show and The Mullets). Everyone is tired of your Cosby bashing, it is getting OLD!

And after seeing your lists of shows you hate, they all are black shows. You must be racist and lots of members have even noticed this. Do you like any African American sitcoms? And don't say, yes, I like Scrubs. Scrubs does have an African American person in it, but it isn't one. And you have just ONE African American friend? That's sad.

I have to agree with that, I like FT also. Neither it or Cosby are "top 10's" for me, but both would make my top 25. But I find it funny to love one and hate the other when you consider the ratings powerhouse those two shows had TOGETHER. You don't see many Happy Days fans who hate Laverne And Shirley, or vice-versa... and the "Cosby at 8, Family Ties at 8:30" timeslot from 84-87 WAS the "Happy Days, followed by Laverne And Shirley" of the 1980's.

the difference is that while it's been known she hates Cosby... with her "these shows I hate" list, it wasn't just Cosby, but basically every African-American sitcom of the past 30 years.

Would you consider someone sexist if they emphasized the list to showcase every "female" sitcom, or would they be homophobic if they showcased every gay program, or anti-Hispanic if they put shows starring Latinos first? Or anti-Semetic if they showcased Seinfeld, Roseanne and other sitcoms that starred Jewish entertainers?

Nothing wrong with disliking shows, but it seemed deliberate that the black shows were first on her list, and that they were so predominant.

Very interesting... Jen1989, did you try to think of EVERY black sitcom you could think of and place it in a list and add some "white" shows at the end to make it think you are not racist?

And come on, just one black friend?? If you would have said "I have black friends," I don't think this would have gone further. But just one?? Do you live in a rural town in Texas or something; just wondering?

Anyway something had to be said of this. Back to the ORIGINAL topic -- Least Favorite Cable Channel.
