Is the Emmy that John got for 8 Simple Rules really deserved or is it an Emmy nomination just because of his death. I agree John is a very talented actor but was this emmy really for how well he did this season or just sort of a pity nomination.

what do you all think?

I think it was deserved! Because in the three episodes he was in during this season, he was great! I laughed in pretty much every scene he was in. And even after his death, he was still a huge part of the show, because in almost every episode they talk about him or relate something to him, which still, in a way made him a lead in the show. Thats just my opinion! :)

I think the videos the network chose to use , to give to the emmy award commitee for their emmy consideration was "Pilot" and "Come and Knock at Our Door" , both from Season 1.

Either way John's character is still a big part of the show.......

He does deserve it. I am a bit scared he may not win he is up against Matt LeBlanc (Friends) and Kelsey Grammer (Frasier) , But i think he is 2-1 to win , so thats good!

It couldn't have been from Season 1.

The Emmy nominations are for this past season.

Those are from last year. They also submitted "By the Book." The nomination he got is for THIS season. So one of the three he did. It should be released soon on what episode he was nominated for.

Pity nomination?! Are you for real?
That nomination was definitely not for pity. He's great in everything he's on, so what's the difference with 8SR? I loved watching him on 8SR, he was just hysterical! :D

I don't know if he has a 2-1 chance look at who he is up against.
Matt LeBlanc-He just finished the last season of Friends that could be a factor.

Kelsey Grammer-finished the last season of Frasier and many critics think the last season was one of the best so that could be a factor as well.

He still has a chance though.

Kelsey Grammer has already won before for Fraiser and Matt LeBlanc might have other chances to be nominated if Joey does well!

I hope John gets it because not only does he deserves it, but it would be a very beautiful tribute for John in honoring his final work!

John IS the favorite: http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/stories.pl?ACCT=109&STORY=/www/story/07-15-2004/0002211159&EDATE=

Matt LeBlanc has the LEAST chance of winning.
