View Full Version : 80's music or 90's music?
roseannefan4ever14 07-23-2004, 03:11 PM Which one do you like the most? 80's music or 90's music? I would go with 90's music because thats when grunge came out and I also like mid-90's music.

Roseanne- theme song lyrics from the last season
If what doesn't kill us is making us stronger,
We're gonna last longer
Than that greatest wall in China
Or that rabbit with the drum
If there's one thing that I've learned
While waiting for my turn,
It's that in each life some rain falls
But you also get some sun
And we'll make out better than okay
Hear what I say
Hey, any day
Rhiannon 07-23-2004, 03:16 PM I like more 90's than 80's music, but I do like them both.
BowWowsBreezy 07-23-2004, 03:17 PM 90's I LOOOOVED 90's artists such as:
Salt N Pepa
TLC
Aaliyah
KRIS KROSS (haha yes "Jump" is my guilty pleasure lol)
Coolio
Usher (My Way was his best work)
Cleopatra (one hit wonders lol)
SWV
I can't even remember em all right now lol...but yes the 90's was awesome for music
dandelion wine 07-23-2004, 03:19 PM Nothing against what came out in the 90s.. I'm just a sucker for the 80s.
vashti1999 07-23-2004, 03:22 PM 80's
Dean Winchester 07-23-2004, 03:48 PM the 90's has some great stuff, but 80's get my vote.
Plus, there seemed to have been a "unity" between genres in the 80's that doesn't exist now and barely did in the 90's. There was a time where you could listen to Guns N Roses, Bobby Brown, Paula Abdul, Public Enemy and Michael Bolton at one time and there'd be nothing "weird" about it. Whereas now you either have your rock fans, or your rap fans, or your country fans, or whatever. Back in the day, everything seemed to have broader appeal. And that was what was great about the 1980's. Someone like Sheena Easton and George Michael could cross over to the r&b chart (without the aid of a "remix" featuring a hot rapper too), and somebody like The Pointer Sisters and Lionel Richie could score COUNTRY hits. But nowadays, the chances of something like that happening are very very nil.
Kay Scarpetta 07-23-2004, 03:52 PM 80's, 80's, 80's.
I do like some 90's music, don't get me wrong, but 80's takes the cake.
Brian 07-23-2004, 04:18 PM Absolutely 80s music. The only music I like from the 90s were from 1996-1998.
TheGreatPretender 07-23-2004, 06:28 PM Definetly 80s i thought only the early to mid 90s had good music and it got cheesy in the late 90s but all of the 80s were good

I agree, the late 90's (97-99) was a real downgrade after 90-96 IMO
Penny Lane 07-23-2004, 08:30 PM 60's/70's:D
80's over 90's definitely:happyface
Cashodeen 07-23-2004, 08:47 PM :notworthy THE 80s. :notworthy
Nighthawk76 07-23-2004, 09:24 PM The 80's:)
musicradio77 07-23-2004, 11:32 PM The 80's might be a perfect vote. It features many of these 80's artists:
1. Lakeside
2. Michael Jackson
3. Freddie Jackson
4. Falco
5. Luther Vandross
6. New Kids on the Block
7. Bobby Brown
8. The Gap Band
9. Debbie Gibson
10. George Michael
11. Paula Abdul
The 90's are more better than the 80's. I like the music from 1990-1995.:)

 Vashti, you're such a bum.
And brooklynguy, if all those artists were the only "highlights" of the 80s, I would have voted for the 90s!!!!!!

diezman 07-24-2004, 03:03 AM The 90s had some great music without a doubt! The 80s were just more fun IMO
Janice Johnson 07-25-2004, 07:07 AM I grew up during the 90's, so I guess I'm SUPPOSSED to say 90's music(I was just a 5 year old by 1989), but I found that I like to listen to 80's music on 97.3 The Coast and 101.5 Lite FM a lot. I picked 80's music because it sounded better than the 90's music. There were great songs that came out of that era.
1.Control by Janet Jackson
2.Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper
3.These Dreams by Heart
4.Saving All My Love For You by Whitney Houston
5.Hold Me Now by Thompson Twins
6.Human by Human League
7.Crazy For You by Madonna
8.Here And Now by Luther Vandross
9.Sweet Baby by George Duke and Stanley Clarke
10.If I Could Turn Back Time by Cher

I love the 80's more than the 90's but it doesn't mean that I don't like the 90's music at all, it's just that I love the 80's more.

Hollow 07-30-2004, 10:57 PM 80's. the 90's kind of sucked.
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 07-31-2004, 02:40 AM 80's. I just love the sound of it. 70's is in second. 90's and now are okay, but eh...
Dean Winchester 07-31-2004, 02:42 PM even tho the 90's had it's share of crap, most of that crap is still better than what's hot now
Dude111 01-22-2026, 10:43 AM I def picked 80s!!!
JO Sweet Heart 01-22-2026, 09:34 PM I picked the 80s because of my most favorite late singers getting to be a part of the decade.
Steve Sanders of the Oak Ridge Boys-He sang lead on their #1 song in 1988 named "Gonna Take A Lot Of River".
Billy Joe Royal-After not being in the top ten since 1965, he returned in the late 1980s which is when his strongest musical momentum took place in the county music field with songs like "Burned Like A Rocket", "I'll Pin A Note On Your Pillow", "Out Of Sight And On My Mind", "Tell It Like It Is", "Love Has No Right", and "Till I Can't Take It Anymore".
Northern Calloway (David from the Sesame Street show)-One of the best songs that he ever sang was included in an episode of the children's program first shown on April 30, 1984. "Plenty Of Love" is the name of the song and to me, he couldn't have done a better job on it.
God bless you and their families always!!!
Holly (a girl who forever misses them)
AMackII 01-24-2026, 04:45 PM Both of them but I prefer the 1980s
Race's Girl 02-25-2026, 09:05 AM Music from the 90s was the bestest
