When I grow up, I really wanna be a script writer for Hollywood for movies.
But I'm worried that I either won't get my high school deploma or have enough money for four or five years for collage.
And what if I don't get any scripts taken, like they're all rejected?
I'll probably make mistakes, but even professals make mistakes in scripts.
What should I do?
Should I really be thinking about this now? I'm already really nervous I won't get my HS dipolama.

You don't need college to be a script writer. Not only that, but if you barely make it out of highschool, you wouldn't be able to handle college anyway.

Your best bet right now is to start writing scripts. Learn how to write. Get some books. Read scripts others have done. And most importantly, avoid writing sappy love stories :barf:.

If you start practicing now, you just might be good enough by the time you graduate highschool.

I wouldn't say that necessarily... depending on the circumstances, some people barely make it through high school but then excel in college.

Anyways FullHouseFan, you sure can be thinking about it now. But I wouldn't stress over it. You're still very young. You may even change your mind someday. But I am Him has good advice. As long as you're interested in it, you can practice like he said. :)

You WILL graduate from high school. I know you will :)

Like I am Him and Kat have said, it's best to start practicing now. And if you get writer's block [where you can't think of anything to write about], WAIT IT OUT. It's not something to mess with. :lol: If you force yourself to write when you have writer's block, you'll only frustrate yourself even more.

Not only that, but what you write will DEFINITELY be of a lower quality than otherwise.

And stop worrying about graduating HS. If some of the people I know graduated can do it, then you CERTAINLY can.

Get your diploma first.

Oh...and if you are really serious about writing scripts...get a script writing program, Like Final Draft or something. It is sooooooooooo much easier when the program does all the formatting for you.

Yep that's exactly how it was with me. I had many problems in HS but when I got to college and got the right kind of tutoring I did quite well. I personally see no reason why anyone shouldn't graduate from HS. If I could do it, anyone can.

you don't really have to worry about getting your diploma.. just keep doing your work.

I am a tv script writer myself and I suggest you pursue this regardless of graduating. this can be very tough business so be as innovative as possible. you need to start perfecting and testing your writing skills now by entering contests. it is important to establish your own genre of writing early on. also write about things you really have seen or things that have happened to you. take a notepad everywhere, because from my experience certain things around you can bring inspiration or a streak of writing genius may hit you right there. set aside a time for your writing preferebly in early morning and also set aside a time to think about stories in a quiet place.

What does Harrlequin mean?

I write funny stories mostly, but not very many people like them. My sisters and a few of my cousins thinks it sucks big time.

I'll ask my Dad about the Final Draft thing, too.

ever since i was a little girl i have wanted to be a writer. romance is my specialty. :D

do you have good decent grades, i really doubt you need to worry about not graduating high school.


and just write scripts now and you can also take classes on film script writing. like I am Him said just practise. I think it's really cool that you know what you wanna be when you grow up right now. :)

I write scripts too! My friends love them, they want me to get them published but I don't think they're that good.

Just keeping writing and thinking and never give up on it. I've been doing that since I knew how to write, I'm heading where you are :nod:

I agree, especially if it's something you really enjoy.

If you're worried about not getting your HS diploma, concentrate on bettering yourself where your schoolwork is concerned first. You'll have plenty of time during summer vacation and after your homework is done to write.

Do what you love and don't be afraid of rejection. Not everyone will like the work you do. But someone most definitely will!

Read a lot to help yourself understand dialogue and practice writing. But don't neglect your schooling. An education will be something you can carry with you throughout your career.

Just work hard in high school, try and graduate, and also try to go to college in case script writing doesn't work out for you. Also, take a lot of English classes in high school. And learn how to public speak, it could come in handy if you have to meet with directors.
