Raleigh, N.C - In his hometown of Raleigh, N.C., there may be no doubt, but throughout the rest of the country, there is only hope—hope that just maybe, quite possibly Clay Aiken, the 24-year-old American Idol finalist and singing sensation might not be gay, but instead be just "really sensitive."

"He is gayer than the gayest gay guy in the entire gay world," says 16-year-old Josh Austin, who dated Winters for two months just before the second American Idol season began. "I am so sick of every girl in this state talking about that gay guy. He's so gay my butt hurts just looking at him."

"Gay, gay, gay, gay, gay, gay, gay," Austin taunts.

lol, why hope that he's really sensitive? I think Clay is ugly, but I do think it'd be really sweet if a current teen idol comes out of the closet... everytime we get an openly gay pop star, it's always a decade after people stopped caring (I mean, why didn't George Michael come out when he was actually popular?)

I'm not a fan of Clay Aitken and I really couldn't give a **** about him as an artist but this thread strikes me as being slightly homophobic so I feel like I have to say something:
If Clay Aitken is gay - who cares?! It's his business - nobody else's. If he doesn't want to come out then that's entirely up to him. I hate the way the media sets out on some kind of witchhunt everytime they get even the slightest hint that some celebrity might be gay or lesbian. There are more important things going on in the world than what celebrity is sleeping with who!
Personally I think we need more openly gay teen icons. There are still too many kids growing up without knowing any gay people and thinking that there is something wrong with it. If Clay is gay then more power to him!

I can't stand it when people go around calling him gay, when he's never actually said it.

when you reach STAR STATUS then you loose all rights to privacy. The public should know. You are a public icon and anything you do should and will be judged. As far as being homophobic thats what i call a witch hunt.

yes, I do think part of the reason you find a lot more "gay-friendly" people who were teens in the 1990's was because they were exposed to celebrities like Ellen Degeneres and Melissa Etheridge, who were appealing and in their peak and able to proclaim they were gay... whereas before that, it was just Boy George and The Village People who people knew of as "gay people" in the day, and both of them presented negative stereotypes.

i agree with you. We can openly discuss anything but when you ask a question about certain individuals its taken out of context. We can have a thread discussing RUBEN STUDDARD and his weight gain but we can't discuss if CLAY AIKEN is dating BOY GEORGE.

Noone is discussing whether "Clay Aitken is dating Boy George". My point is that it shouldn't matter if he's gay or not. Clay Aitken is a singer. Does his sexuality have an adverse effect on his ability to do his job? No it doesn't. So therefor it's none of our business.
I disagree that you should have to give up your right to privacy the moment you step into the public spotlight. Would you be perfectly happy to have the whole nation speculating about your private life and picking apart every move you've ever made just for a few fleeting moments of fame? Everyone has a right to privacy no matter how rich and famous they are!
BuffySlayer79 made a very good point in namechecking Ellen and Melissa Etheridge. As I grew up as teenager in the 1990's there were very few openly gay people in the public eye and I felt like I really had no positive rolemodels to look up to. Thank God for Ellen DeGeneres - if it wasn't for her and her sitcom I dunno what I would have done! Thankfully nowadays there are a lot more openly gay celebs - people who aren't just stereotypes - and I think that's awesome. Even celebrities who aren't gay themselves are speaking out in favour of gay rights and it's about bloody time!

But it is NOT a fact that Clay Aiken is gay. Ruben has admitted that he is "a big dude" yet Clay has constantly said that he is not gay.

all joking aside, there are lots of things.

1. Clay is quite possibly a metrosexual. He might appear gay but like girls. I know friends who are very fashion conscious and all and watch Queer Eye for "tips", but at the end of the day, go home to their girlfriends

2. if Clay is gay, it's up to him when he wants to come out. Being gay is different for different people. Some people aren't ready to come out until a certain period and it can hurt when people are so ready to out them, when they're not ready to out themselves!! (I didn't come out until 17, but I remember being called a *** at 15 and being to myself "why do they know? I'm not telling anyone!!!"). Not everyone is like RuPaul and is out from the first moment people see them. One's sexual orientation is a struggle you deal with for a long time before you finally decide to admit it to the world.

3. if Clay is gay, and is willing to come out... right now there is a huge anti-gay backlash going on in conservative circles, they're trying to make it like the AIDS backlash all over again. Clay probably fears if he came out, soccer moms all over the country would ban their daughters to listening to his music.

4. the ONLY people who know Clay's sexuality are 1. Clay, 2. his closest friends and 3. girlfriends/boyfriends of his. The rest of us can wonder, but the only people who know the truth are those people.

Number one....He is most definetly a metrosexual! He was raised by his mom and grandma and admits to having feminine qualities.

I think the thing people can't accept about him is that he's different from a lot of stereotypical popstars out there. He doesn't swear, he doesn't drink and he's not a "man-whore" so to speak. So just because he (god forbid) has morals, people automatically call him gay.

I said we can't even discuss it. I didn't say have a trial and come to a conclusion. GUILTY...GUILTY. We should be able to discuss anything but politics according to the moderator.
Why would even the mention or this question piss someone off.? "easily offended" might be the optimum phrase.

I agree with everything Mossopp said. It is only his business if he is gay and even if he is, nobody should really care. Plus I am raised by my mother and my grandmother and I'm not gay. Being gay really isn't a big deal. It's just a way of life.

That's so stupid. Does that mean that to some people in this world that if a guy isn't a jerk to women that he must be gay? Have people forgotten terms like decent and gentleman? What's wrong with people today? Do some people have so much time on their hands that they have to ponder everyone's sexuality? Who cares if he's gay or not? His music is good and that's all that should matter. I haven't listened to much of Clay Aiken's music, but I like the song "Invisible".

Well that is the stupidest thing I've heard in awhile. Just because you're a celeb and a lot of people know who you are DOES NOT mean you're not human. You still have the basic human right of privacy and any fan who can't respect that needs to be locked up in a loony bin.

I am just being honest. For some reason your reality is that the media will write a story about some relative unknown. NOT. Why not just look at society for what we are. We are curious by nature. In order to satisfy this we read NATIONAL ENQUIRER just to feed the hunger. Even the Daily News paper has a column called PAGE SIX where they just let you know sightings and rumors about people who are stars. Do you really think if PARIS Hilton where you the news of you making a porno tape would actually be news? Give me a break and be honest in your arguments. I love to debate but if you’re going to live in this society and wear blinders then I don't know what to tell you. I see people show support of CLAY not being gay on this thread. I can respect it when people can show their opinion and its based on truth. You can't tell me that a star has privacy even if it’s a human right.

Just because they lose some of their privacy doesn't mean they lose it all. We don't know every single time someone showers or eats their Cheerios or has sex with their husband/wife/whatever. Nor do most of us care. The media thinks we care that so and so was filling up their car with gas at a station in Santa Monica on Wednesday at 3:18pm...but I sure as hell don't.

Amen to that. I hate the media. I couldn't care less about any entertainment news anymore at all. I'll watch E True Hollywood Story once in awhile, and I watched the profile of Audrey Hepburn tonght, but that's it. Most of the Entertainment news that gets reported I just want to say, who cares? The way that entertainment news gets reported and shows what singers and actors are doing is ludicrous, it's like reporting on a doctor or lawyer and what they do for a living.
