I just watched "Monster" Charlize Theron's Oscar winning role! Wow! She really "uglied" down for this movie! The movie was depressing and the use of the "F" word was rampant! I don't recommend it but that's just my opinion! But I have to admit that Charlize's role was very intriquing! I guess I prefer more uplifting movies!That "word" gets very tiresome!JMO

Is this really Charlize?!

:eek::

I don't find her attractive in that movie. But that is the way that hooker looked in real life. I believe. I want to see it that movie. My sister saw it and she loved it.

Just curious, was it just the profanity in the movie that turned you off, or just the overall (based on real life) negative story the movie tells?

I guess we can credit that entire transformation to her superb acting abilities, Charlize brought Aileen to life. "Monster" is a very good film, but it doesn't compare to the documentary about the real Aileen. Very captivating, and intriguing in a weird way.

I saw it last year. And the only reason I had interest is because the buzz about "Don't Stop Believin'" being in the soundtrack. But I have to agree with Penny Lane, the director tried to justify Aileen Wournous' reasons for murdering the way she did. I agree that she had a tough life, but to try and justify a serial murderer's killing all those people was wrong. Its a really violent movie, but I think Charlize won the Oscar because of her performance, which I thought was good, because whe looks just like Aileen.

If you go to CourtTv.com you can see a picture of the real Aileen and compare. :wave:

I agree with everything that you have said also. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one out there who isn't a big fan of this movie. I think Charlize did a great job, and she still deserved her Oscar.

My biggest problem with the movie, was they made her a sympathetic character. I mean she was a serial killer for crying out loud!

^I strongly agree with you on that.

I thought it was really good.

What was funny about it, was the whole time during the Italian Job everyone was like "....omg..that girl is so beautiful" then during Monster when you see her you are like "..."

funny how you go through a whole movie fantacising about her taking her clothes off, then in the movie where she does you are completely repulsed.

I guess that is a sign that they did a good job of getting her into character
