View Full Version : Reasons you don't have and hate cellphones

I am nearly 30 years old but unlike the rest of you all, I hate cellphones. Don't get me wrong they are good for emergency use only. But here are the reasons why:

1. Accidents(the main reason) Let's say you are on a cellphone and you get into accidents, what will they blame?? Yes the good ole cellphone.
2. Takes up all of your time instead of doing other MORE important things.
3. May cost a lot of money(Thank goodness for the 50 cent phone booth).
4. You can hear the people both on the sender and the receiver cursing things out that you wouldn't use on regular phones.

I could go on and on but those are the main reasons.
Anybody else have hate for them??

-I'm 17. The only people I answer to are my parents and they usually know where I'm going. If not, chances are that place has a phone!
-It's cool.
-They're a WASTE OF MONEY!
-I wouldn't use it enough for it to be worth it.
-I hate phones in the first place.
-I don't need anything else distracting me while driving.
-They're annoying.

I do have a cell phone, but I agree with you guys about driving- I refuse to use my cell in the car- I'll either wait till I'm parked or have a passenger call for me if it's that important (which it rarely is)
I hate when someone's all over the road because they're on their phone and not paying the slightest bit of attention to anything.

My friend has a bumper sticker that says "Hang Up And Drive!"

I dont want a cellphone. The only reason why I want one is so I can have cool ringtones and do cellcerts.

The only reason my parents bought me one is for emergencies... and thank God I had it, because I have gotten myself in some sticky situations.

Other than that, I don't even use it. I hate talking on the phone, anyway. I didn't bother getting a plan, just pre-paid. Cheaper. I haven't even gotten any minutes in months. It's been sitting on my dresser since May.

I have one....I don't use it when I drive. I don't think I could handle it. I don't even know why I have one. My mom is psychotic and has to know where I am every second of every day....

No one in my immediate family has a cell phone, partly because we probably couldn't afford to pay for the service, and partly because we don't really need one anyway.

I don't have one, but I can't talk anyway... It's just as well because I also hate the phone. Back when I still had a regular phone line, I avoided the phone like the plague. Not now, though- I get on here via a cable modem and my mom got herself a cell phone. :D I have to tell my mom I REALLY don't want her to turn into one of these annoying people you see EVERYWHERE. So far, so good...

Everybody else in my family has one...My sibs live out of state now and they both live in big cities, so it's necessary. My stepmom and dad both travel a lot for work...yeah.

I don't have one. I don't hate them or anything. In fact I think they are a great invention. I just don't need one. It's stupid to spend all that money when you don't even really need one.

I do have a cell phone but I don't use it (it was a hand-me-down from my brother he's had 6 fones in 3 years)

I only use my phone to make prank calls to unsuspecting neighbours:lol:

If you can drive a car and have any sort of relationship with human beings, you are better off with a cell phone.

The second you drive your car into a ditch during a snow storm tell me how happy you are that you don't have a cell phone.

The second you hear that tickets are almost sold out for a band you want to see while you are stuck in traffic tell me you are happy you don't have a cell phone.

When you are stuck in traffic on the highway and there is a major accident and you are supposed to meet friends for dinner, tell me you are glad you don't have a cell phone.

Having a car and not having a cell phone is stupid.
It's a life saver and a huge help.

I have a cell phone. In fact, it's my only phone, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Yeah, I admit, there are a lot of people who should be taught a thing or two about cell phone etiquette in public, but I'm not one of them. I usually keep phone conversations short, sweet, and to the point.

And let me just second what dlemond said.

I can't stand people who talk on the phone in supermarkets and block the aisles while other people are trying to shop.

Free long distance though on many plans.

I don't really hate cell phones, I just hate how some people use them. People don't need to have pointless convos while they're driving or standing in a store. I don't want to hear it ring in the middle of anywhere. And I think some people just have them because it makes them look cool or something. It doesn't.

But my cell phone saved my butt once when I had a tire blow out on the interstate. Worth all the money in the world that time.

I don't want one - If somebody needs to get in touch with me (and it's important) then they can find me.

I don't like the idea of people being able to call me wherever I am. I like my privacy. I used to have a cell phone and it was a pain in the ***! I tried to keep my number private but it got out. I had relatives, friends and my work on my phone all the time

I have one that I only use for emergencies or when I have to leave my children with the grandparent because I need to run an errand.

I dislike the people that talk and drive, that go all over Walmart yakking so everyone thinks they're cool and the ones that keep on screaming' I can't hear ya' 'Can you say that again'

i used to have a cell phone, in fact it was my only phone for about 5 years, but i got rid of it and i dont plan on getting another one anytime soon.

yeah, it did get used for emergencies a lot - mostly when OTHER PEOPLE were having "emergencies" that they needed rescuing from.

I think cell phones are good to have in emegencies, but otherwise, I couldn't be bothered with a cell phone. My dad has a cell phone. So, it's great for when someone calls at the house and wants to know where they can reach my dad. I might consider a cell phone in the far future, but now I can't afford it and trying to save up money for secondary education: college, SIAST, whatever I plan to do.

Sounds like a cool bumper sticker. Hopefully, it will make some people with cell phones think about not answering their cell phones while they're on the road.

Here in TX,it's a law that you get fined if caught talking and driving; whom I've seen a lot and none get caught but if I was doing it the cop will be waiting for me in the corner:o

There's no excuse not to use a headseat while driving

I have a cell phone, but I don't use it very much. Heh, my 11 year old sister uses hers more than I use mine.

not to sound rude, but what's an 11 year old doing with a cell phone...unless of course they are walking to and from places, then that would be OK.

My sister doesn't walk to and from places. I have no idea why she has one actually. I thought it was silly, lol.

almost all my friends i know are getting cell phones and they are 14/13 years old!! and they say that they use it so they can be reached wherever they are. um no they don't, they won't admit that they just have a cell phone just for the sake of having a cell phone to be cool and playing their cheesy rings for me to listen too. it's just another one of the fads of today. also it costs a fortune.

Hahaha, 20 years later, and this is the most normal thing in the world; I only thought it was “silly” then due to peer pressure, but I’m not a people pleaser anymore. My 11 year old sister had a cell phone, her 3 year old has a cell phone. (Very child-locked.) Kiss my grits.
