Vacant (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=60399&item=4024668860)
Cheryl Harrell 07-18-2004, 02:56 AM He does looks disconnected & vacant like he staring out into space. I wonder if that was a sign that he was having problems & no one knew???? Poor baby...
imaillusion 07-18-2004, 03:04 AM Hi Cheryl,it is nice to hear from you.I was disturbed by the photos and wondered if it was just me that felt that way.Thank you for your imput on this.I do appreciate it.
Pitooey 07-18-2004, 08:51 AM I remember when Freddie was making that movie. He does seem vacant. When the movie came out they gave him terrible reviews.
didn't the movie get the poor reviews but Freddie's portrayal was the bright spot...or is that just my idea???
hue_mee 07-18-2004, 12:08 PM I dunno, it could be a number of things....
The position of everyone's places and Freddie just being in character as a "strong - determined - Leader" of the group. Showing he is in control. I don't visualize it as anything like being vacant or disconnected. I see him in the picture just being in character as Muff
Prince 07-18-2004, 12:23 PM I agree Suz...I thought he looked hot in those two pictures myself..especially the one with the girls. He was playing a serious character and was trying to convey that I think. The second one is not the most gorgeous picture he has ever taken..but nice just the same. I think we have a tendancy to look for things just because of how his life turned out. But when I watched the movie, I thought Freddie was very much in control and did a wonderful job. He had so much potential.
Cheryl Harrell 07-18-2004, 07:37 PM I thought MILLION DOLLAR RIPOFF was great! Too bad he didn't get the chance to do more movies. He would've been great!
Prince 07-18-2004, 08:38 PM I agree Cheryl. Maybe the world wasn't ready for Freddie's kind of genius?
sfditusa 07-24-2004, 01:26 AM That picture definitely reminded me of Freddie in character for the movie. And the character didn't seem natural to Freddie (in my humble opinion). It seemed a bit strained, and that is the way the picture comes off to me as well.
And, even though Macca and Joy wouldn't agree, he is just way way way way way too skinny in that picture. I liked to see him with a bit more weight on him, and smiling.
And then he would walk to me slowly with those big brown eyes, and dimply smile, mmm mmm mmm
Oh, Sandra, snap out of it... hee hee hee.
Sandra
imaillusion 07-24-2004, 02:23 AM Thank you sfditusa for your reply.Freddie did not look right to me.Yes he did look thin.
As for the photo of Freddie with the women,I guess that he was supposed to be happy surround by them,he was not happy looking. The photo was for advertising the movie. No I was not looking for any signs because of how his life turned out,(I say this respectfully)I am just stating what I feel looking at those photos.
Thanks for everyones input.
:)
Prince 07-24-2004, 07:43 AM apologize if my comments on the photos offended you iamaillusion. I love this board for the fact that everyone can share thier thoughts on Freddie. I didn't mean to imply that you
were looking for things to find wrong with Freddie. I know that
wasn't the case at all. Thank you for starting this thread. It makes for some interesting conversation.
You're right Sandra....I don't think he's too thin...lol..but then
again you know why I feel that way. Miss you!.
hue_mee 07-24-2004, 08:17 AM I love this thread and everyones opinions on the particular picture of Freddie and the girls. I have watched MDR so many times just because of the difference of appearel surroundings that Freddie protrayed in. I still don't think Freddie was mad or sad or disillusioned. He was in character and just being Muff.
imaillusion 07-25-2004, 01:49 AM Hi there Hue_mee.Thank you for the reply.:)
That is what I love about this board also,The opinions of others are great here.
Macca please do not apologize for your opinion.I respect anything that you have to say.:) You are right though when you say that people look for things to find wrong with Freddie.I have indeed done this before, but you were right,I did not do it in this case.I just wanted to say that in the case of the photos shown, that was not the case.:)
I had a friend that had commited suicide in "98",I never expected it from him.He always seemed so full of life and happy.I guess he acted happy to me so that I as his friend was not burdened with his personal problems since I was his friend and on the average happy. He probably did not want me to walk around with his burdens reflected on me.Maybe he thought that if he was unhappy, his unhappiness would reflect on me and I would be in the same somber mood after talking to him.I do not know what he was thinking, like I said,I never expected it.The man hid his emotions well.
After Bruce died I tried to back track and find anything that I could that would point signs of his depression. There were no signs.I would drudge up former conversations from memory hoping that something would have pointed in that direction. There were none.
In my line of work I deal with suicidal people every day. They all say that they want to end thier life and have the scars of suicidal gestures. What they are saying really by those gestures is "please stop me".If they did commit suicide they either did not want anyone to know they wanted to die,or they were hoping to be stopped from commiting the act and succeded because the act was not intervened upon while it was taking place.
Sorry this is so long,I just wanted to share.
imaillusion 07-25-2004, 01:58 AM Macca,my friend Bruce was a musican in my uncles band.Being that he was a musican,I was attracted to the avatar that you made for me.Thinking the world of Freddie,Bruce and the feeling of love in the picture between Freddie and Jack,I could have good memories when I saw this.I thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me that avatar and the memories along with it.
Luckymama58 07-26-2004, 09:34 AM Freddie did play Muff Kovack a bit on the intense side, but considering the heist they were planning and the problems they were encountering with the other crooks trying to muscle in on the operation, I could understand the intensity of the character. I think the movie showed the range Freddie did have and what he could have done if he had stayed with us. He did say once that TV was a bit of a sidetrack and he was more interested in doing movies....
BTW Muff does show his lighter side at the end of the movie and that is the kind of thing I am trying to capture in my story "In Harm's Way" (http://luckymama58.tripod.com/) , both the intensity and the lighter side.
I agree lucky and that is one of the resons, besides just looking at Freddie, that the movie was so fun to watch it was intense and exciting and Muff was a totally different charater than Chico
