View Full Version : The Official "Waiting for Season 4" Post barwars 07-16-2004, 08:11 PM WHEN IS IT COMING?! and what special features should we expect?? PZelda 07-16-2004, 08:21 PM That's what I'm waiting to hear. I'm getting impatient already. WHEN. IS. SEASON. 4. COMING. OUT?!?!?! :( barwars 07-16-2004, 08:30 PM Im not sure what they'll use for Season 4.... but I think they'll use this pic for the Season 5 cover art.... PZelda 07-16-2004, 08:46 PM Originally posted by barwars Im not sure what they'll use for Season 4.... but I think they'll use this pic for the Season 5 cover art.... Nice picture. I just hope Paramount realizes they've been using the wrong pics for their box covers, and use the CORRECT one. :D My prediction of a green-themed box set still stands. Chambers 07-16-2004, 09:19 PM That's a great picture! And I also hope that the people in charge of the cover art get their acts together!! Brian Damage 07-16-2004, 11:39 PM I guess they are tallying up the sales of season 3 to see if season 4 will be released. barwars 07-17-2004, 12:05 AM I have no doubt in my mind that every season will eventually be released. The biggest thing that prevents TV shows from coming to DVD (besides music rights) is picture quality. I read that in 2001 when Cheers was syndicated to N@N and given as a gift (the entire series uncut) to some Museum of Television Arts (or something like that).... Paramount spent 180 MILLION DOLLARS restoring the footage to what it looks like. DVDs are just easy money. And after 180Million, they're gonna need it. AKA 07-17-2004, 12:08 AM I'm predicting a November/December release. barwars 07-17-2004, 09:17 AM Originally posted by AKA I'm predicting a November/December release. Even with Frasier - The Final Season coming in November?? AKA 07-17-2004, 02:59 PM Originally posted by barwars Even with Frasier - The Final Season coming in November?? I forgot all about that. But yeah, even factoring that in, I still say November/December, 2004, with season five coming in May, 2005. barwars 07-17-2004, 03:07 PM Originally posted by AKA I forgot all about that. If might just have to kill you if you're right! AKA 07-17-2004, 06:57 PM Originally posted by Chambers No. No. NO! I can't wait that long. It must be sooner. If might just have to kill you if you're right! Looks like I'm doomed either way. Damn you, Paramount Home Video! Chambers 07-18-2004, 06:42 PM Yeah, you're pretty much doomed, man. While we're on this topic, anybody ever wonder why most of the Paramount video releases (http://homevideo.paramount.com/Catalog?cmd=display_advsearch_results&search=title&keyword=cheers&begin_index=0) for Cheers dealt with the first five seasons? Also, does anybody have information on how well the first three DVD sets sold? barwars 07-18-2004, 06:48 PM Originally posted by Chambers Yeah, you're pretty much doomed, man. Also, does anybody have information on how well the first three DVD sets sold? I think most of the video releases dealt with the Diane years more simply because they occurred first. And, I know TV-VHS never really took off -- so they probably stopped and never bothered that much with the Rebecca years. I hope that won't be the case for the DVDs. I'm guessing it won't be. The VHS releases suck compared to the DVD sets. I'm still trying to find out about how sales were, though. barwars 07-18-2004, 07:22 PM Originally posted by Chambers I was afraid that would be the answer.... TV-VHS in general never worked. They took up too much space, and there was no chance for special features. Now, TVDVD is the fastest growing DVD market. Im not sure how the DVDs sold, but to my understanding (as a HUGE TVDVD fan) no show has ever had 3 seasons released and then been cut off. Season 1 is testing the market. Season 2 is seeing if they're still there. but Season 3 is just easy money. Its either 1 (or 2).... or everything. Chambers 07-18-2004, 07:47 PM Whew! That makes me feel better. I'll trust that assertion. I hope the extras on season 4 are significantly better than the last three, however. I'm tired of those clips. We've seen the episodes already, we don't need to see all those scenes again. I'm crossing my fingers for more interviews. AKA 07-18-2004, 07:52 PM Originally posted by Chambers Whew! Chambers 07-19-2004, 06:29 PM Waiting....and waiting.... How far in advance does Paramount announce a release? barwars 07-19-2004, 06:32 PM Its usually been 3 months in advance. Feb-May Oct-Jan Feb-May yup.... 3 months. Chambers 07-19-2004, 06:33 PM Thanks. I feel like going "Is it here yet? Is it here yet? Is it here yet?" I'll do that to the workers at Best Buy when I get back. PZelda 07-19-2004, 07:15 PM Originally posted by barwars Its usually been 3 months in advance. Feb-May Oct-Jan Feb-May yup.... 3 months. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I don't want to wait 3 more months to find out when Season 4 is out! :faint: barwars 07-19-2004, 07:23 PM Originally posted by Miss Vicki  NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I don't want to wait 3 more months to find out when Season 4 is out! :faint: no.... it could be even longer, or it could be tomorrow.... its announced 3 months before it comes. when its announced.... nobody knows. Still 07-20-2004, 04:02 PM I wish they'd get a move on. The idea of the dvd's starting to not sell well and then not making it to series 11 scares the life out of me. Of course if they hurried up with the releases, we'd get there much quicker! Chambers 07-20-2004, 05:33 PM Nobody in this forum has Paramount contacts?? Chambers 08-18-2004, 08:57 PM I guess it's a good that the DVD hasn't come out...seeing as I don't have that job yet. But if there's no news in the next couple of months, I'm planning a protest. AKA 09-15-2004, 12:26 PM What the hell is holding Paramount back? Are they inserting Jabba the Hutt into the Thanksgiving episode via CGI? CheersChild4life 09-15-2004, 01:46 PM Paramount pisses me off sometimes. Would they just get the dvds out! Oh well thre's many more tv shows I have to buy while waiting for cheers. tiff7 09-15-2004, 02:11 PM I wish they would just release seasons 4 & 5 already. They released season 3 in March, seasons 4 & 5 should be out by now! Friends season 8 will be released in November & seasons 9 & 10 of Friends will be released next year. Is Cheers on tv anymore? What time (central time) & what channels it the show on? Tiff7 Petrie Malone 09-15-2004, 03:12 PM I still gotta get Cheers seasons 1-3 on DVD! Yes, I know... I must not be a very dedicated fan if I still haven't purchased them... I'm just waiting to get the money!! A very smart decision. If it was videotaped, it wouldn't look this good, even with the best remastering/restoration technology available. barwars 09-15-2004, 05:55 PM Originally posted by AKA When you finally splurge, you'll be a happy man. Frasier has his hand out to be shaken, you'd "like to shake the hand" haha I get it. Very true though -- Cheers looks great. (And on "Rescue Me", you can tell that video tape was used for the Europe scenes) Chambers 09-15-2004, 06:21 PM Originally posted by barwars (And on "Rescue Me", you can tell that video tape was used for the Europe scenes) And the sound was awful, too. |
