MARTHA STEWART TO SPEAK WITH BARBARA WALTERS ON THE DAY OF HER SENTENCING - INTERVIEW TO AIR TONIGHT, FRIDAY, JULY 16, 10 PM ON “20/20” ON ABC S
Martha Stewart will speak exclusively to Barbara Walters in what will be Stewart’s only one-on-one interview today, following this morning’s sentencing of five months in prison and five months house arrest. This is also the first time Stewart is doing an interview since her trial. In the interview, which will air on “20/20” tonight, Friday, July 16 (10-11 p.m. ET) on ABC, Stewart is expected to respond to questions regarding her trial, her sentencing and her future.
Walters conducted the first, and one of the only interviews with Stewart after she was indicted and before going to trial in January 2004. In that exclusive interview, which aired on Friday, November 7 on “20/20,” Stewart broke her silence about her headline-making legal troubles and discussed her tumultuous personal journey from modest beginnings as a girl growing up in New Jersey to her rise to become a billionaire entrepreneur. She also spoke candidly about her expectations for the future. During the November interview, Stewart addressed the possibility of going to jail, saying: “Who wouldn’t be scared? The last place I would ever want to go is prison. And I don’t think I will be going to prison, though.”
“20/20” is anchored by Barbara Walters and John Stossel. The executive producer is David Sloan. (CLOSED CAPTIONED).
