I am sure it will come out on DVD, almost every show is now coming out on DVD, even ones that weren't so popular.

I read somewhere that the WY may never be out on DVD cause of all the music they used in the run of the series, I guess it would cost too much for the music licensing or whatever it's called.

How much would the music cost in comparison to how much the actors on Friends were making?

 What's that got to do with anything? Music licensing is expensive, and I guess if the co. feels it's not worth it to buy licensing for a whole series, then they won't release it on DVD :)

All I know is that it was a great show and I would like to see it on TV or VHS or DVD sometime soon.

The Wonder Years: Complete First Season would be a music rights nightmare.... you'd have to go through so much red tape to release this it's not even funny....

It's not that the production company that owns the show wouldn't want to release... they would... it's just that everyone in involved with this set would have to agree! As you can see... the Wonder Years DVD that already is out is without it's original music.

 if they couldn't cut through the red tape, the only other thing they could do is change the songs to something different, I know that's not the same, but if it were me I'd want the show out on DVD I'd take it how I can get it as long as it was uncut :)

It's ashame the original music isn't on the DVD, but I still want to see the show. It was an original. I will look on the ABC Family network for it though.

They should air it more frequently.

I'm making direct satellite DVR rip to DVD, so the quality is even better than set top DVD recorders (all digital, no recompression, etc). I hope ABC Family continues to show these every Sunday, so I can keep recording them. Sure.. the discs are not true-to-the-spec DVD format, but my DVD player and Playstation 2 are happy with them. I hope ABC Family at least gets through season 1. If we never see these on commercial DVD due to music licensing, I'll be happy I got this much at least. And maybe I will finally have something worthy of trading on here for other shows.
