No this isn't the one you are thinking of...this is the case of a guy who went to visit his son in another state for awhile and then abrubtly decided to head back home ahead of schedule. On the way back he stopped at a rest area and was apparently murder. His body wasn't found for days until some people found it under some garbage on the side of the road.

Another thing I recall is this case took place where the climate was very cold as there was snow all over the ground. Finally there were some witnesses who saw a man parking idely in the rest are where the elderly man was killed and that man is the main suspect in the murder.

Anyone remember this?

Yes, I remember that one well. The murder victim's name was Dexter Stefonak and they speculated that maybe the guy asked Dexter for help (like he ran out of gas) and since Dexter was hard of hearing and may not have responded the guy went crazy and killed him. That seems like an awfully petty reason for the guy to go berzerk and kill him. They also found some writing inside the Bad Route Rest Stop (where he had been last seen) bathroom that they thought could have been written by the killer.

This was one of those old UM stories that from how they shot it, just gave it an eerie feeling.
