I just need to rant a bit...

I guess I'm just not destined to see "Eunice", and that REALLY sucks!

A member on here (No, not jterry) was nice enough to make a copy of "Eunice" on VHS for me. They mailed it to me on Monday, and I finally got it in the mail today. I eagerly tore open the envelope, threw the envelope away, took the tape out of the sleeve, turned my VCR on, inserted my tape in and pressed play. What's the first thing it does?

IT. EATS. THE. FREAKING. TAPE!!!!!!!!!!!!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am SO upset! My VCR is in REALLY REALLY good shape. I've never had ONE problem with it. Never. It's been VERY good to me and I treated my VCR with respect. In fact, there was a period of time just a while ago where I didn't use my VCR (to record) for about 6 months, because at the time, the reception to my TV was coming in all screwed up. We had it fixed, so now I can record stuff. I wasn't experiencing any problems with my VCR AT ALL...I was even using my VCR last night to record something and it went off without a hitch!

:mumble: I was SOOOOOO close...But now I'm back to square one again! I've been trying to get my hands on a copy of "Eunice" since April/May 2003, and I thought I FINALLY had it today! I want to see "Eunice" so badly, it's not funny. :( There have been numerous offers made to me since that time for me to get a copy of "Eunice", but the person(s) I talked to always wanted $20+ for it. THAT'S INSANE. There's always the off-chance that the VCR will eat it, as it did with the tape that this member sent me.

Okay, I feel a LOT better...Thank you! :)

Oh no! That sucks! :(
My condolences. ;)
I haven't seen Eunice either, and I don't know if I trust anyone enough to buy it from a private party. Well, maybe I would on Ebay since they at least have rules and selling history.

Oh, believe me, this member on here is really nice & sweet. She wouldn't think of doing a thing like that. I've gotten/sent tapes to other people in the mail before...Never had a problem at all. :)

You're not supposed to be selling bootlegs on eBay...You CAN sell official copies (DVD's/VHS's you buy in stores), but no bootlegs. :)

My thoughts:

I've had this happen, and it usually only happens if the tape has been used alot. I've never seen it happen with new tapes, so he must have used a used tape or a really old one to tape this.

I would def. see if you could get your money back.

If you can get an old tape if you have one, tape something on it, then see if the vcr eats that one :)

Oh, it was definitely a new one. It was a Sony tape, to boot. I had a (blank) Sony tape once and I tried to do something with it on ANOTHER VCR and it ate up the blank tape!

The only thing that cost me was postage...

I already have my VCR set to tape something tonight anyway and with luck, it's not going to eat my tape. I think my VCR somehow detected that I had an Eunice tape in there and ate it up to prevent me from watching it.

This member has already been contacted, so it's all good. She knows about what happened now. :)

It's all good. Everything worked out -- I'm getting another copy. Now I'm VERY puzzled to as why my VCR ate up the Eunice tape this afternoon...I taped something else tonight and it was fine...as if nothing had happened.

Cool! That's great that you're getting another copy. You're vcr must think that Eunice tapes are tasty or something
