Edster2973 07-16-2004, 08:31 AM There is also info over here: http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=1890
but I prefer Jack's Bistro, for very obvious reasons. :)

brasspounder 07-16-2004, 03:11 PM I hope the quality of the next set(s) are better than the Season 2 disks. Lots of stutters on these disks, especially #3 and #4!!!
Edster2973 07-16-2004, 08:10 PM I didn't notice anything wrong with my discs. Perhaps you're playing them on an older machine? Honest, there was nothing at all wrong with my Season 2 DVD set.

storrs19 07-16-2004, 09:00 PM I haven't had any problems either, but a friend of mine did with several dvd's and I told him to use a dvd lens cleaner (bought mine at Radioshack for $10) and he said it cleared up the problems he was having. I never used my dvd player much until all of these great tv shows came out, now I watch it about 3 hours a night, no more tv with commercials, I love it :)

Thanks for the tip, I will give that a try. My player is not too old, in fact I bought just last October just before the TC Season 1 DVD came out. Perhaps it's the player, it was a pretty cheap Coby model. I also had problems on a couple movies, "Logan's Run" and "Easy Rider". TC Season 1 was OK though!

The Ropers' last episode is included in season 3. They bow out in episode # 51 "An Anniversary Surprise" and the season ends with episode # 53 "Triangle Troubles".

That isn't until Season 5, when Helen & Stanley guest-star while Cindy is living in the apartment, remember? Helen goes downstairs to their old apartment, thinking that Mr. Furley is away, and Mr. Furley comes home and ends up getting into bed with her by mistake.
In any case, we'll have to wait until Season 5 rolls around for that episode.

That still doesn't make sense. I just said a few posts before that their last appearance in season 3 was in episode # 51 "An Anniversary Surprise". How would this be an extra since it would be included anyway???

It would be a extra bewcause that episode was originally a Ropers episode titled "Moving On" and it was renamed "Anniversary Surprise" in syndication.

No it wasn't. "Moving On" and "Anniversary Surprise" are two DIFFERENT episodes. "Anniversary Surprise" is a Three's Company episode. In it, we learn that Stanley is thinking of selling the building and meets with his real estate agent, who the trio (Jack, Janet & Chrissy) along with Mrs. Roper, think is having an affair.
"Moving On" is the first episode of The Ropers, where the Ropers move into Cheviot Hills and we learn who the neightbors are.
They're two different episodes.

Correction ED, that ep "anniversary surprise will be included on the season 3 DVD because it's a Three's Company episode. I was thinking about the episode "Moving On" which was included in the TC syndication package and it's the first episode of the Ropers spinoff. Moving ON airs after Anniversary surprise in syndication so that ep would be an extra, not anniversary surprise.

I'm well aware that it airs as part of Three's Company's syndication package, but I think for the sake of keeping things as complete and as authentic as possible, they should leave off the episode "Moving On". Not only for that reason, but also because I'm holding out hope that someday, should sales warrant it on the Three's Company sets, they'll agree to release the spin-off The Ropers as a set. But if one of the episodes of that show is already available, it could potentially hurt sales of that DVD set (which may not even happen, but I'm hoping for it anyway).

So if Moving On is added as a extra on the season 3 DVD, do you think that kills any chance of a Ropers DVD being released?
Skywalker 07-17-2004, 08:34 PM If Moving On and stanley, the Ladies man aren't included on the season 3 dvd set, I won't be buying it.

Who's to say? I think it shows that they would have no intention of releasing a DVD set of The Ropers if an episode or two from the show is included as an extra; otherwise why release the same episode twice?
That's not to say it could never happen, but if an episode from The Ropers does make it onto Three's Company Season 3, then at this stage they're not even considering releasing the show, and that's a shame. With all the crap that gets release, some of which are even shorter-lived shows than The Ropers, I think Stanley & Helen deserve their spot as well. Plus, I think fans would want to check it out too. I'm not saying it'd sell as much as sets of Three's Company, but surely enough would sell to justify their expense and turn over a profit...
Ed
I think it'd be cool if they added Moving On and Stanley the Ladies' Man as extras, but in their original "Ropers" form.

Yeah, but like I said earlier, if they do release these eps, chances are they won't release The Ropers as a DVD set. Sorry, but I'd rather have the whole series than just 2 episodes.

The two Roper episodes that air as Three's Company episodes will not be on the season 3 set. Full explanation on that and details on the season 3 special features will be coming next week (Aug 27) on my website. Everyone must read it (There's no bad news at all), that's all I can say for now.

Holy Moley!!! November 2nd is just right around the corner!! Very good news!! I just hope the TC seasons will continue being released along with the spin-offs!!!
Question: Why don't they just release it ALL? I mean, it's not fair they release multiple seaons for other modern, popular shows like Friends and others. Why not for TC? It was popular during its time, but still... :D

Three's Company is getting the same release schedule that other shows have, such as Friends and others. Friends Season 1 came out first, followed by Season 2 about 4 or 5 months later, and so on and so on.
Friends is more of a sure thing as far as profits go, because it's a current show (or it was up until last June) and, more importantly, the format in which the show is shot is in digital. The conversion from show to DVD is quite simple in that regard and isn't costly at all.
Older shows such as Three's Company was recorded on tape. There is a conversion process that's required that takes more time and is more costly. Also, since the show is aged, it needs touching up, again adding to more time and more money that has to be invested.
Alas, Three's Company isn't a sure bet such as Friends, but it must be holding its own profit-wise or we wouldn't be getting more releases. Not only are we getting more seasons, but they're actually going through the trouble of making blooper reels for us, and I bet that takes a while to go through. They have to find them (if they're even catalogued!) and decide what can be released and touch them up as well. I bet these bloopers haven't been seen or looked at since the show last aired in prime time.
Surely the DVDs must be selling somewhat healthily for them to continue doing this. Also, it was mentioned that the spin-offs *might* see release as well, something I'd like to see and which TVShowAnalyzer swore would never happen (guess what pal, you're not always right!). Again, this would cost money on their end but they must be making it back and then some to even consider doing the spin-offs, let alone more Three's Company Seasons.
Like it or not, it all depends on money. No matter how much we may feel the show deserves the ultra DVD treatment, or how much folks may want to honor John Ritter (which I think is almost over the top; I mean, if he deserves it, which he surely does, then what about honoring Norman Mr. Roper Fell and Audra Mrs. Roper Lindley? Surely they're just as worthy), it all boils down to money. As things stand now, it's looking pretty good. Let's hope it continues...

Austin Tripper 09-10-2004, 03:54 AM I love the extras.. I do wish the Bloopers is longer & they show us more behind the scenes stuff :)
The best of each character for that year is weak.. why not just watch the episodes.. it makes it cheap to just see the moment.
they should just do more documentaries & behind the scenes stuff:cool:

Steve's Roadhouse 09-15-2004, 04:22 PM Now that the pilots are used up, they should use episodes of the Ropers as extras for all the remaining seasons. Because let's face it, there's zero chance The Ropers will be released on it's own (which doesn't really bother me). We'll be lucky just to get all of Three's Company

TV Guy 09-17-2004, 01:03 PM According to tvshowsondvd.com, the "Remembering John Ritter" tribute is hosted by Joyce DeWitt, and features interviews with Richard Kline, Don Knotts, Ann Wedgeworth, Jenilee Harrison, Director Dave Powers, Writers George Burditt and Kim Weiskopf and Producer George Sunga.
Very noticeably absent from this tribute is Suzanne Somers. I wonder if she was asked and declined to participate, or if the producers didn't even issue an invitation. Either way, the scars from that feud apparently still run deep.
Priscilla Barnes isn't on there, either, but she's commented in the past how unhappy her years on the show were, so her absence doesn't surprise me.

Good Question on the SS thing!! I wonder why she isn't involved!! Of course being a JDW fan I prefer seeing her than SS but I think that is unfair to the SS fans so I wonder what happened there!?!?! I also wished PB would have been involve too!!! She is my fav. blond so I do wish she was in the tribute. I wonder why neither of them are being involved?!?!

Well, Suzanne is never really involved in any of the Three's Co functions. Ex: Three's Co Book signings, Three's Co cast gatherings, etc. Priscilla Barnes hasn't signed to do interviews, but maybe they will get her for season 6's set.

I always wondered about whether Suzanne's lack of involvement was voluntary or not. Why I say this is because whenever the producers recall the dispute with Suzanne, they always end with 'Get her the he** out of our lives!' or something along those lines.
Perhaps I'm reading too much into this, or perhaps it's mutual, but I kind of wonder whether Suzanne just isn't ALLOWED to participate, at least in the DVDs anyway. I can't see her not wanting to have some involvement, especially with what happened to John. She never ever snubs her time with Three's Company and has even expressed that she's at peace with what happened, acknowledging that she too was a jerk during the whole debacle.
Maybe it's just lip service on her part, but I do think she'd jump at the opportunity to do things for the Three's Company DVD sets. She was always the one who insisted that there should be a Three's Company reunion and that someday she'd play Chrissy Snow (or a character very similar to her) again.
I know she was hardly the only victim in what transpired but coming from her end, she accentuates the positive and seems ready to let bygones be bygones, but the other side, especially the producers, seems to retain some bitterness. I think they've made it clear that she simply isn't wanted, or maybe they're afraid any involvement with her would mean involvement with Alan Hamel as well.
It's too bad. Her involvement could/would make the DVD sets all the more special...
Ed
TV Guy 10-01-2004, 09:05 PM Suzanne may have reconciled with John before he died, but she is still estranged from the "Three's Company" producers, who have never been able to forgive her for the way she tried to renegotiate her contract midseason. If she's not involved in official "Three's Company" functions, it's safe to say because she has not even been invited. Whether or not she'd be willing to do it is moot, because the powers that be don't want her there.
