I was just a kid, but I remember an awards show where Isabel won her award. Must have been the emmy's or the golden globes.

Anyway, she came out with a mouthful of cookies and I remember her saying something like " I didnt expect to win so I just put a cookie in my mouth!!" Anyone else remember that?

Wonder if Nick at Night will pay a tribute to her?

Sad to here she died. She was a great actress will be missed by many.

Actually it's funny you said that because they showed her life story on Intimate Portraits early this morning.

It was actually cheese that she had in her mouth. And the first thing she said was "At last" and everyone burst out in laughter.
Then she explained that she wasn't expecting to win and so that was why she was chewing on some cheese. (She was so crazy-ha!)


She won an Emmy award for best leading actress in a sitcom. She was and is the only African American female who has received that honor.

I do remember that award show. Despite what was said about the cheese (I'm sure they are right) but I do recall her coming out with her mouth full and saying she shoved a cookie in her mouth.:happyface

Isn't it funny how something like that sticks in your mind? I remember that like it was yesterday.
