CliffClavin 07-13-2004, 04:11 PM The picture on the Jeffersons' desk by the telephone changes in every episode. It alternates between shots of Louise, George, Lionel, and Mother Jefferson.
Featured the first racially mixed married couple in prime time television.
The Jeffersons returned to television in 1995 to appear on an episode of _Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, The" (1990)_ , and again in 2001 for a series of Denny's Restaurant commercials.
The building in the opening sequence is located at 185 E 85th Street in Manhattan.
Though it is rarely mentioned on the show, the name of the building the Jeffersons live in is called "Colby East".
The Jeffersons' neighbor, Harry Bently, worked as a translator at the United Nations.
Louise had an older sister named Maxine, who ran away from home several years earlier after she got pregnant. She eventually moved to France where she worked as a singer.
When Zara Cully died during the 1977-1978 season it was decided to write Mother Jefferson off the series by having her die as well.

1. The 1st lionel left because his role because too small
2. The 2nd lionel left because he wanted more money
3. The original lionel returned because he ran into sherman hemsley during the summer of 1979 and was asked to come back so that;s why he is seen again at the start of the 6th season, 1979-80
4. The jeffersons was closed to be cancelled during the 1976-77 season

liane49 04-22-2015, 11:45 AM The show was almost canceled because as Malra Gibbs told Norman, you keep having different times and days for the show to be on. Just leave us on the same day and time every week and people will be more likely to find us and keep watching.

It was probably because he was offered a part in the movie roots, next generation and was on position to ask for it. Lol
Like if I was offered a higher salary somewhere else I was ask for a raise here or I would quit. Lol
