In this episode towards the end of the 1980-81 season, Sgt. Alvinia T. Plout comes to the girls' apartment to tell them of an undercover operation. During the show the girls joked that they saw her on The Carol Burnett Show. (That show, you may recall, starred Vicki Lawrence, who played Sgt. Plout.) Unfortunately the timeframe of this season was 1964-65 and TCBS did not start until 1967.

Was that an error on the producers' part???

I don't think the writers were willing to sacrifice a joke over a couple of years (they had trouble enough coming up with anything funny during those last two seasons). "The Bardwell Caper" took place during 1965 and Laverne made a joke about "Mission: Impossible", even though that series didn't premiere until the 1966-67 season.

In one of the first episodes with Vicki Lawrence as Sgt. Plout (the "You're In The Army Now" two-parter, eps. 95 and 96) one of her lines ended with "the night the lights went out in Georgia", even though her song with that title did not come out until 1973--nearly ten years after the time in which this episode was set since 1979-80 corresponded to 1963-64.

Oops, I've gotten offtopic:
