In one ep (when Harold Hecuba arrived) Gilligan almost became more competent when he was on stage singing "To Be Or Not To Be". Bu he messed up his lines a little. When he and Skipper conspired to make Wrongway want to leave the island in an earlier ep though then Gilligan really became Mr. Competent.

I always notice that and personally believe him to be not quite as he normally seems. I have analyzed his character as thoroughly as I know how. He can change his entire personality in an instant and probably could even be smart. I have a theory, but I won't be boring by stating it. ;}

Go ahead and be boring, Jilly. I think I'd like to hear it. Sounds interesting.

I always thought that Gilligan play dump on purpose that he wants to be marrooned on that island because he likes the attention that he's getting there. He feel needed,he feel love by his friends. That's why he goofs the rescues.I think he doesn't have that much attention back home.Just a thought...

I agree. Nobody can possibly be that stupid.

By the way, does Bob Denver have any musical theatre in his acting background???

Five O, I know Bob Denver has done theater. He replaced Woody Allen in Play it again Sam on stage.
