Definitely, without a question, Mary Richards. The reason is that Mary is such a positive role model for women, where Laura really isn't. (Besides, MTM is constantly saying she's a lot like Mary Richards!) Also, on Dick Van Dyke She was just a co-star, but the MTM show was HER show!

I'd rather be Laura Petrie because she doesn't have to go to work ( I'm lazy) and she doesn't have to go home to an empty apartment. And because she's married to a cutie pie who obviously adores her.

I'd rather be Laura. She made people realize that being a housewife is an important job too. She wasn't dumb, and she could have had a career (as a dancer) if she wanted to, but she was happy being a housewife. I'd also much rather have a loving husband and son to share my life with then live alone like Mary Richards.

I agree with you about being Laura, but I wouldn't have minded being Mary because her life seemed much mroe interesting. She got to go out of her apartment more, and meet new people all the time through her job. So I guess I wouldn't mind being either of them!

That's a tough one. When I was growing up, I wanted to be Mary Richards. She was independent, pretty, had a great apartment and lots of friends and dates. But Laura and Rob have a great relationship, a cute kid, nice friends and I love their house!
