That's why i was so sad when Steve was gone. Jefferson had no chemistry with Al. He and Al was too much alike. But Steve and Al were complete opposites and that's why i will always cherish the episodes with those two in scenes together.

I liked Steve, but I liked Jefferson as well. I don't know if you noticed this, but towards the end of David Garrison's run on the show, the Steve character was acting more and more like Al. I thought it was cool that he made a guest appearance every season after he left the show.

I never understood why steve never ran into the Bundys when he was at the carwash. He only ran into Jefferson. That was very odd to me.

It's been a few years since I've seen that ep. I think the writers just wanted to bring closure to the Steve and Marcy relationship, cause when Steve left, there wasn't really a goodbye or anything. I thought it was really odd when Steve came back as a principal at Bud's high school. They were going to give Steve a spinoff series, but the pilot never even made it on the air. I bet a spinoff with Steve would have been a lot better than the two MWC spinoffs.

I remember watching the Top of the Heap pilot episode and at the time I didn;t know anything about spinoffs. I think i was 15 and was saying to myself, "why the hell am i watching this guy and his dad for the entire episode?-LOL I was saying-"where the hell are the bundys"?

Yeah when you're young Backdoor pilots feel like a jip! I saw it once on Jake and the Fatman - the Fatman was there for all of three minutes, then the rest of the ep focused on these Bail Bond Bounty Hunters chasing down some guy who had broken his bail conditions. It was exciting, but I couldn't figure out why Jake & the Fatman were nowhere to be seen!

Steve & Al had fantastic chemistry, even though they didn't get along, it's like the classic two guys whose wives are friends angle. Jefferson got along with Al more but eventually he became a lot like Peg and occasionally put Al on Marcy's side, in the early years Al would scheme on things and Steve would be unwittingly drawn into them, whereas Al & Jefferson were together on the scheme from the start, especially with the No-maam guys.

I liked Steve,but later on,I found Jefferson to be funny...

Steve was great for what the show initially was - an adult comedy contrasting a world-weary cynical old married couple (the Bundys) with a young, optimistic newlywed couple (the Rhodes). Jefferson was great for what the show quickly became - a live action cartoon about white trash.

I like Jefferson but I liked Steve more. It just seems like Steve had better lines. Also, wasnt there a time when Marcy and Jefferson were only in like one scene per episode?
