View Full Version : Has anyone discovered that episodes were EDITED after buying a DVD?

I have heard people say that episodes were edited on the Punky Brewster DVD, Saved by the Bell, and What's Happening. Just wondering why they would be edited if they are not on a cable network. Has anyone else come across a DVD that had edited episodes?

What's Happening season 1 has edited eps! That sucks. Barney Miller-Season 1 has 2 edited episodes. I was pissed when I found that out cause there's only 13 eps in season 1. I've heard that Soap-season 1 has a few edited eps. I remember reading that Sanford and Son Season 3 had an edited ep. I think it's stupid to have edited eps on dvd. You pay alot of money for the season sets, you should get uncut eps.

I read somewhere that one episode of the Punky Brewster Season 1 wasn't on the disk, it was the final episode of the season, and it was an episode the networks wouldn't air at the time the show came out.

Yeah I read SBTB were edited, there's another but for the life of me I cannot remember what it was.

I've heard from people on the Saved by the Bell board that some of the DVDs from the Season 3/4 set are edited.

I could be wrong, but I don't think any of the live-action Punky Brewster episodes are edited on the DVD set...the episodes run for about 24 minutes, and I'm pretty sure they're all the uncut NBC airings. (You even get the 1984 NBC logo intro before each ep starts) Also, there are no episodes missing from the Season One set, all four seasons ran for 22 episodes each.

The Family Guy episode "Road to Rhode Island" is edited on the Volume 1 DVD set. There is an entire scene cut in which Stewie mentions Osama Bin Laden. (This episode originally aired pre-9/11)

Ramon and The Bureaucrat are edited. These are the only eps on the season 1 dvd that are 22 minutes each. The rest of the eps run anywhere between 24:30- 25:30 minutes long so I knew something was fishy. I just hope they get it right when season 2 comes out. Hopefully they will release it soon.

Yeah, I noticed that Ramon was edited, which sucks, since that was the first episode...

I have heard Charlie's Angels Season 2 is edited (charliesangels.com reports it). I have heard nothing sitcom wise though, only rumors -- unless it can be proven, I'm not believing it.

Yeah, I found out after buying them that Punky Brewster and SBTB were both edited.

I sold my Punky DVD in June and I'm in the process of selling my SBTB DVD's. I don't want anything to do with them anyway.

Ever since the ALF DVD brouhaha, I always read DVD reviews and stuff about the set before I buy it.

I just bought a set of the first season of "The Beverly Hillbilies" on DVD off of E-bay, and not only are they edited, but they don't even have the opening theme!
And only the first one ("The Clampetts Strike Oil") has the closing theme, but it's sung by someone else.

Oh, well, as they say, you get what you pay for.
I think I'm gonna sell it.

Makes me mad, cause it's brand new!

In episode 2, Jody originally sang "There's Nothing Like a Dame". This has been edited out along with a tune that the grandfather hums as he exits the sauna. Episodes 16 and 17 are syndicated versions, each missing 2-1/2 minutes of content. Episode 19 is missing the "On the last episode of Soap..." recap.

Any idea if the Columbia House tapes/dvd are edited?

Or the 2nd Season DVD set?

this really has nothing to do with this topic, but "The Odd Couple" VHS tapes are edited, same with "The Andy Griffith show" VHS tapes.
