CNN) -- Richard Biggs, who played Dr. Stephen Franklin on "Babylon 5" and also had a long run on the soap opera "Days of Our Lives," died Saturday. He was 44, according to the actor's Web site.
A posting on a "Babylon 5" message board by J. Michael Straczynski, the sci-fi show's creator, said the cause of death has not been determined but that "paramedics who showed up suggested it was either an aneurysm or a massive stroke."
Biggs, a graduate of the University of Southern California School of Theatre, gained his first major exposure as Dr. Marcus Hunter on "Days of Our Lives." He was on the NBC show for five years.
He also appeared on Lifetime's "Any Day Now" and "Strong Medicine." Most recently, he played Clayton Boudreaux on the CBS soap opera "Guiding Light."
"Babylon 5" fans and staff were shocked by his passing.
"Richard was a consummate professional, but more than that he was an honorable, stand-up guy," Straczynski wrote in his posting. "He was, quite simply, a terrific guy, and everyone here is just devastated at the news."
Biggs is survived by his wife, Lori Gerber, and two sons.
Milo died! :( That is sooooo sad! They don't even know what happened. Rosa posted on the Lifetime board and she said he was in perfect health and no one knows why he died. Terrible. :(
Kristen 07-08-2004, 10:32 PM OMG, that's awful. :( I liked his character, and I wonder how they're going to deal with it on the show. Does anybody know what # Rosa's post on this was? I looked for it and couldn't find it.
Thanks,
Kristen

Thanks, it was 6284. I always have the hardest time finding Rosa's posts.
*Marilyn Monroe* 07-10-2004, 01:33 PM Omg That's terrible! 44 is so young!
InspectorExstead 07-22-2004, 08:57 PM Yeah, I was really confused when Milo suddenly died on the show and I was hoping nothing had happened to Richard Biggs, and then at the end they wrote "In Loving Memory of Richard Biggs." It's so sad that he died suddenly. He was so young. Has there been any news on his cause of death? R.I.P. Richard. :(
InspectorExstead 07-22-2004, 09:24 PM Can someone please post Rosa's post on this thread? I can't seem to find it on lifetime's site.

what character did Richard Biggs play on Any Day Now and Strong Medicine? On ADN he played Renee's boyfriend for a while (i forgot his name) and on Strong Medicine he was Dr. Milo Morton..aka Andy's boyfriend.
And Megan, I'll go get it now.

In memory of Richard Biggs
It is a very somber day here on the set of Strong Medicine. I can't believe you all have heard so fast! You are all amazing.
I am asking that everyone take a moment to send positive energy (or prayer if you are religious), to Richards children (boys ages 2 and 4), and his wife. We do not know many details but know it was sudden, unexpected and most likely a random sudden heart attack.
He couldn't have been in better shape or health, and we all just worked with him on Thursday. Whenever there are several cast members in a scene together, it's non stop talk and laughter. I always feel sorry for the director because we can't shut up. Last Thursday was no different. Laughter, talk of everything from heart attacks (how ironic is that?!?), to politics (Pat, Richard and I are all huge Kerry supporters), to even what we speculate happens in prison. Richard was a SWEETHEART of a man, very educated, and very talented and professional. He also had that rich amazing voice like a radio announcer I always thought.
Just make sure you give someone you love an extra hug because we always hear it, but it is easy to forget..
YOU NEVER KNOW
WHEN IT WILL BE
THE LAST TIME YOU SHARE WITH SOMEOME.
Love,
Rosa

Aww...that was so sweet of her to post that. It's so sad that he died suddenly, but I'm glad the last few days of his life were filled with laughter and smiles. Thanks for posting this; for some reason I was unable to locate it. (Is that you Amy?)

Rhiannon 08-06-2004, 11:56 AM OMG I didn't know he died because I haven't seen the show recently. This is so sad. I really liked his character. He was also on Any Day Now, another great Lifetime show. :(
bananasplit 08-08-2004, 02:25 PM How terrible. At least his last days were very happy and full of laughter. I noticed at the end of the episode that it said in memory of Richard Biggs. I didn't know who that was so I made a note to look it up on the internet but i never got around to it.
