So if all goes well (and I'm sure this will be a no-go), I will be a dj for my friends' daughter's wedding in September. They are looking for songs to dance to (which may be a problem since our church of No-Fun frowns on dancing and rock and roll... )
and I am looking for songs from each decade of rock and roll, which should be no problem for me because of my rock and roll history threads. I'm looking for everyone's input on great danceable songs from the 50's, to start out with. I have my ideas:

Elvis:
Jailhouse Rock
Hound Dog
Blue Suede Shoes

Chuck Berry:
Johnny B. Goode
School Days
Roll Over Beethoven

Eddie Cochran:
Summertime Blues
C'mon Everybody

Jerry Lee Lewis:
Great Balls of Fire
Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On

Little Richard:
Tutti Frutti
Long Tall Sally

Danny and the Jrs.:
At the Hop

Gene Vincent and the Blue Caps:
Be-Bop-A-Lula

Fats Domino:
Blue Monday
Ain't That a Shame

Bill Haley and the Comets
Rock Around the Clock

Richie Valens:
La Bamba

Big Bopper:
Chantilly Lace

Buddy Holly:
Oh Boy
That'll Be the Day

Any more ideas?

I am a wedding DJ on weekends - It looks like you have a fine list compiled already!

I suggest the Jive Bunny "Thats What I Like" CD. It's a compilation of great 50s and 60s songs in a medley form. It also has big band medleys from Glen Miller.

Try it - I believe it is still available. It is a great "floor packer" CD

If you have any questions on getting started I'd be more than happy to lend you some advice on music, set up, lights ect. I've been DJing since the early 80s- feel free to PM me
