Just saw the pilot again and didn't recall any mention of how he got it. Is it mentioned in a later episode down the line?

It was never really mentioned, although they did have a flashback show where they showed him on his very first radio show.

I thought I read somewhere that he filled in for some other radio psychiatrist and then got the job. Could be wrong though

I don't recall that ever happening. Although, there was an episode where a psychiatrist filled in for him and got her own radio job. That might be what you're thinking about.

Episode 72 "You Can Go Home Again", the Season 3 finale.
I just watched it the other night.

According to it.... Frasier started his radio show on May 21st, 1993.

It mentions the fact that he had been in Seattle for only a week.

Which means.... the entire course of history is destroyed.
Because Frasier was obviously in Cheers on May 20th, 1993 -- still married to Lilith.

Damn. They really screwed that one up...
Oh well, I'll still drink to that. To yet another Cheers/Frasier inconsistency!

The dog one is what is the worst.
Same actors/different characters is no problem by me.
Characters we've never heard of suddenly having a history with Frasier.... fine with me.

But loving a dog, and then hating a dog like Eddie -- just leave.
