I can't wait until next week. I'm going to watch it every night. Finally a decade where I can actually remember mostly everything from it! I'm especially excited about 1997 (that's Thursday night!). I hope they eventually release all the "I Love...." series on DVD. I love all the commentary, especially Michael Ian Black and Hal Sparks!

I love those series! I can relate to a lot of the 80's era since I was born in the mid 70's and watched the 70's to learn about what I'd missed. Can't wait!!

Oh god, the pull on me is soooo strong...I don't want to watch 1999...that year sucked. The Columbine shooting, my starting 9th grade that fall, etc...I HATED the end of 1999. I was SOOOOO happy when 2000 rolled around.

I'm probably going to give in and watch the whole thing anyway. :rolleyes: :lol: I miss 1990, 1991 and 1992 a lot...so I'll definitely be watching that. 1990 was definitely my fave year. :D

I have an awful memory. I can hardly remember anything I did really in the 90s and I spent a good deal of my childhood then (ages 4 -13). I must have had a really boring life because I can't even think of one year that was better than the rest. It's all one big blur to me...

I'm still excited to see the show though.

anyone else think that the 90s were to current? a good example would be most of the TV shows that started then are still around today. i think they should wait until the end of the 2000s to do an i love the 90s. or it would be cool to do an early 90s like 90-94. but i still cant wait to see it!

There really aren't that many shows left that started in the 90's. Let's see there's Everybody Loves Raymond, The King of Queens, and a few others, but most are gone.

I think the end of the 2000s would be too late. :(

When I watched the 80's, 70's series I really only watched it for the people's comments. Just because what they said about the stuff was so hilarious! A lot of the stuff I couldn't even remember. If they just showed clips of old shows/movies/commercials or whatever from that decade and had NO no one giving comments the show would be crap!

It's all about the commentary. That's why I watch it!

Basically, I still feel that it's way too early for them to be doing an I Love the 90s when it's only 2004. But now those promos are all over the place and they're... drawing me in. :lol: I graduated in 1993 so I guess if I do wind up watching, 1990 - 1994 will be the ones for me to see. while there were a few metal bands who had success in the 90's, Metallica, Guns N Roses, Megadeth.... for the most part, metal coming into the mainstream was more 1980's. Especially 1987-1989. When Nirvana and the grunge invasion came along in late 91, it spelled the end of the party for most of the metal bands who were popular at the time, only a handful like Metallica, GNR, Megadeth and Ozzy maintained a successful career after then (and Motley Crue did score two top 10 albums afterwards but neither sold what their 80's albums did)

exactly, why should we get nostalgic for 1999, when many of the popular artists then (Britney, Eminem, Justin [N'Sync], Usher, Christina) haven't exactly gone away yet.

I think 95 or 96 should be the cutoff... too soon to be nostalgic for anything since.

Sorry, it is no quite long ago enough, when you watch "I Love 83" with a niece or nephew who wasn't born then, they can laugh at "you mean people wore leg-warmers?", but yet even THEY can remember 1999.

In order to be nostalgic, a lot of time has to have passed and everything old is new again. Like I said in my last post, not enough time has passed when most of the popular singers from 99 are still popular today, it's not like the 70's or 80's where only a few are still around. Whereas even if you use 1994, a lot of the things then are new again.

1990's was one good thing. I was 21 in 1995. But other than my graduation in 1993, the decade sucks.

I watched last night, and I was very entertained. My favorite part so far was when they played the clip of "Nothing Compares to You" and Hal Sparks was squirting the fake tears in his eyes. :rotflmao: OMG, I was seriously laughing out loud.

Well considering that they have forgotten a few things, like Home Improvement and Home Alone, maybe they will do a I Love the 90s: Strikes back. I forgot but wasn't the Macerana in 1995? If it was than they forgot to cover that too. I remember that dance. It was great, nobody knew the words and would maybe hum along until they got to the " Hey Macerana" part.

They did that with Cheers during I Love the 80s. It debuted it 1982 but they talked about it during I Love '87.

Yeah. I think they did that because they wanted to hit the show right in between Diane and Rebecca so they could cover both.

exactly, not every show is like Ally McBeal and peaks it's first season out

I missed 92-93.... did they have Seinfeld or Simpsons yet? Those are two of the most definitive 90's series and I didn't see it on either

what I found especially gross was Chris Booker (Jennifer Lopez's brother-in-law) going on and on and on about how Hanson sucked and were talentless..... they have more musical talent than his sister-in-law will EVER have, I wonder what he would've said if somebody pointed out that they write their songs and play instruments and actually have decent singing voices, something Miss Lopez doesn't of any three, lol

So far no mention of Frasier, Seinfeld, or The Simpsons.

"I Love the 90s" sucks.

I Love the 90's isn't as good as I love the 70s and 80s, but it's still enjoyable imo. 90 and 91 weren't that great, but the others have been better. It's also somewhat difficult to fit in all the things that we want to see, so maybe there will be an I love the 90's: Strikes Back. I think one of the main reasons why I'm not enjoying I love the 90s is because Michael Ian Black is getting way too much airtime, he was better in smaller doses. I Love the 80's: Strikes Back will always be my favorite.

VH1's website was very off. Not a mention of Friends in 1995.

They also said "we were introduced to a vampire slayer named Buffy" for 1997, yet nothing was said at all about Buffy for 97

I agree. I don't even think he's that funny. 80's strikes back was my favorite too. It seemed there were alot more people commenting in that one and it was a lot funnier.

but not "Strikes Back"

Because "Strikes Back" was an obvious reference to the first Star Wars of the the 80s -- The Empire Strikes Back

I am a little bit disappointed. They haven't even mentioned ER! They forgot Home Alone, and they didn't mention pogs either. Pogs were freaking huge.

Yeah I saw that segment, and I had no idea what they were talking about. Than again, I was still kind of young in the early 90s.

I haven't seen them mention Lorena Bobbit. I know they would have a field day with that one.

VH1's also been pretty shafty on the movie side too

how could they discuss 1991 with no T2? how about 1994 without The Lion King? They didn't even discuss Titanic for 1997!! (tho it could be in the 1998 segment coming on soon... since Titanic/Celine mania was in 98)

But anyways, the 1997 episdoe was one of my faves out of the 90s. My memory officially came back as I watched that.

1998 had a little thing on FRASIER! - Ironicly I was in the next room watching Frasier at the time and my brother called me into the next room and I didn't want to miss Frasier for Frasier but I did! HAHAHA!

Now that ILovethe90s has aired, I can REALLY say, what I thought all along: It shouldn't have happened! More time should have passed and more thought should have been put into it. They missed too many key 90s' things.

I agree! "I Love the 60s" would be awesome, but they would NEED older people. Knowing VH1, that wouldn't happen. They always need too many young people, even when it's not appropriate, like "I Love The 70s." And "I Love the 60s" is probably going too far back for them. :rolleyes:
