I received the following email today:

Hello -

My name is Ed Ellington, and I am working for a company that is
producing an episode of A&E Biography on Heather Locklear. I am interested in acquiring as many episodes of Melrose Place on dvd as possible. I am alos curios if you are a collector/ fan of Heather's. If so, I would appreciate the opportunity to talk to you about Heather, and the possibility of having you contribute to our show. I know your expertise would be a benefit.

Please contact me at the number below. Thanks!

Ed Ellington

What are your thoughts on this email? I find it odd that someone doing an A&E Biography wouldn't be able to obtain footage from Spelling. I think it's someone trying to bust me. I'm not going to respond.

Well, it might be legitimate. He might just be doing research on the project to determine which segments might be appropriate for the documentary. Then, of course, he would have to obtain the actual footage and rights from the producer (Spelling, etc.) I am not certain if people can get access to everything a company produces and it might be costly. I have had freinds produce these documentaries before, and sometimes people will go to the Museum of TV and Radio and other places just to watch old shows. If you have the episodes needed, it could be easier just to get copies to watch, and you certain could be included in the credits as a special thanks.

But then again, it could also be a hoax. I guess you won't know...until maybe the A&E Biography airs.

hi, i think i would check the guy out. i think i would be suspicious. now, if it were a fellow member of a fan club or a trade group that i was a little familiar with, then i might take him up on the offer. otherwise, i would do some research and investigation. so much for my opinion. thanks

I have a friend (she runs SBTB: Now) that was contacted through email about using pictures on the E! True Hollywood story of Saved by the Bell and they did use her pictures and included her in their thank yous in the credits. It could be true, but I doubt it with videos. The studio would have that.
