i beleive that the early epidsodes were the best,because it had it's cute moments and dark moments, but the later episodes when punky got older got lame. those last 2 seasons killed the show for several reasons.

1. punky's personality changed alot during the later seasons, she went from being the loving caring tomboy who would brighten people's day to a boy crazy only pre teen. she now cared more about dating boys than brightning people's days.

2. cherrie became more of a jerk, trying to out best punky to see who can get the cuter guy.

3.the later seasons featured less dark tone violent episodes than the early seasons had.

4.finnaly, the entire series ended in a cliffhanger with that dog wedding episode where brandon got married and punky never did find her mother, what a lame way to end a series.:( :mad:

I do remember that finale well....it is just that I wished it ended on a higher note.....the dog wedding was a little pointless, but that's my rant.

The first two were under the control of NBC!

The last two seasons were when the show was put into first-run syndication.

Sometimes the show won't be as good as it once was after this happens, but sometimes it can be good for the show.. like when Mama's Family went into first-run syndication. The show was much better than the original seasons and better cast than the original, at least in my opinion!

I remember a bunch of the syndicated episodes while growing up. One was when Allen leaves because his own parents are getting a divorce. Another is when DeBarge makes their appearance on the show. The Brandon wedding. Another is when Henry becomes addicted to pills because he has to work much longer or whatnot.

I wasn't the greatest fan of the last remaining seasons but there were definitely episodes that still touched the heart.

Cherrie's explaining of her parents untimely death, and the grief she has been living with. Punky was there to lend her friend a helping hand.
When Cherrie's cousin, who couldn't read, comes to visit. Then misfortune happens and it was up to Punky coming to the rescue.
One cute one was when Cherrie was a jinx, and as a result Punky suffers a broken arm. On the way to a doctor's appoinment, Cherrie has to shake off the jinx belief and do the unimaginable (at least for her). Sort of a predictable episode.
When Henry's niece comes for a visit. She is funny and fat, and but inside very hurt. Punky and Cherrie are determined to use Punky Power on her.
There is the episode where Punky tries to convince Henry that his Bufflo Lodge mate has a drinking problem and that he should never be behind the wheel.

I'll agree on most of the points that the episodes lacked the sweetness of NBC, but one must remember Punky had a year hiatus off air, so she would have done some changing. It would have been ridiculous for an 11-13 year old to not have crushes, dances, or even a first kiss. She was after all a pre-teen.

Oh and BTW, there was no point of ever finding the mother. Punky was legally adopted by Henry. It might have been nice, but awkward because she was the daughter of Henry Warnimont. Though they could have told the audience whatever happened to her. But I guess was the point was Punky had a home, and she had a family.

That was true.....and I still remember some of the syndicated episodes, too.:)I just wished they did not end with that Brandon wedding episode, though. That was a bit anti-climatic.

Also, the finale should have been much stronger.
