Subject: FEEDBACK: Thank you Jose
I wish to send to you my utmost respect.
I have been thinking alot of Freddie Prinze Sr. lately and his birthday
will be on june 22nd.I would not have known who you were if not for
Freddie.I thank NBC and Burbank Studios for standing by you when the
"Chico and the Man"show was being picketed because you and Freddie were
not Chicano. If NBC and Burbank Studios had not stood its ground I would
not have had the chance to know the you and your music or Freddie.
This is what I learned from the show;
I remember watching Chico and the Man from the day it started.I was a
teenager.I would like to tell you that Freddie brought more than
laughter to me.Freddie was a Hungarian-Puerto Rican.Freddie was someone
that other than Robert Hedgyes,I had really not seen diverse men like
that!Where I lived at the time,we had "countryboys "(no offence to
countryboys.I will have to say that us teenage girls where hoping and
praying for a boy to come to our school that looked and talked like
Freddie......We read up on ANYTHING to do with Puerto Ricans and their
culture.
Well guess what,us little teenage girls never did meet anyone like that
in our school.
Our hearts were not broken though because Freddie opened up our little
girl hearts and eyes to the fact that we have so many cultures around us
and just because we are not exposed to each and every culture in our
life,we should it upon ourselfs to open our hearts and learn.
I am thankful for the show and what I was taught. Here I was a teenage
girl and I had a little "funny feeling" in my stomach whenever I saw
Freddie.I still get a "funny feeling"in my stomach when I look at the
pictures people post here.
Only this time the "funny feeling"I have is the feeling of being
grateful that we were loaned a man such as Freddie who taught me more
than I knew I would learn from him.
I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for writing and
performing the theme song for Chico and the Man.
I am proud of you.
and your values.
respecfully,
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
