EXCLUSIVE DETAILS OF MARY-KATE'S BATTLE WITH DRUGS PLUS PHOTOS IN THE NEW ISSUE OF STAR, ON SALE WEDNESDAY, JUNE 30

(New York, June 29, 2004) - Star magazine reveals that Mary-Kate Olsen- who along with twin sister Ashley, form a multi-millionaire power duo-is being treated for a cocaine addiction in an exclusive facility in Utah.

Mary-Kate is currently residing at the exclusive Cirque Lodge in Utah, which is known for its scenic mountain views and a new-age, intensive-therapy approach to treating drug addiction. She was checked in by her father Dave Olsen on June 11, and spent her 18th birthday there by herself on June 13.

The recommended 30-day program costs $29,850, and patients are free to come and go as they please, if their counselor agrees to give them a pass.

The facility's website says it treats eating disorders in addition to drug and alcohol addictions. As it's been widely reported, Mary-Kate is also battling anorexia.

GET THE Mag. we have it in target. look at the exclusive pics inside. oh yea this is my last threat about mk. keep it all in here i guess.

Why do people talk about them so much? Every store I go in, I see a MaryKate and Ashley magazine...I really wish I could get one!
I only have about 3 magizens at the most of MaryKate and Ashley.
My friend has a recent one about MaryKate's eating disorder.

...well, it is Star. It's basically another National Enquirer. Until I find another big source such as CNN or ET...I won't believe it. But they do say it's still anorexia, so keep that in mind. She could have tried cocaine once and that gives them the motive to say she's addicted.

I would just like to post this article from etonline:

Ashley Olsen Opens Up About Mary-Kate's Condition

June 30, 2004
Last week, hardworking superteen MARY-KATE OLSEN checked herself into a $30,000-a-month Utah treatment center for anorexia, something her father, DAVE OLSEN, says she's been suffering from for two years. Tonight on ET, Mary-Kate's supportive twin sister ASHLEY is speaking out about how her dark-haired sister is coping with her condition. Also, we go inside the upcoming issue of Us magazine (on stands Friday) in which Dave reveals the status of his daughter's health.

"She's hanging in there," he tells the sleek magazine. "I don't know if [anorexia] is anything you ever get over, I just think you have to deal with it. Now she has a lot of support."

Mary-Kate has been seeking treatment at Cirque Lodge, where a team of counselors, a psychologist and a nutritionist are aiding her in her fight. A local source tells Us that it is also very spa-like and a normal day can include everything from meditation to movies.

But Ashley, who has rearranged her schedule to be by Mary-Kate's side, has been providing the most support. Earlier this month she canceled a 'New York Minute' publicity trip to Australia because her sister could not join her. "Basically, we are so sorry to cancel the trip," she told an Australian TV station. "We love Australia, and we've had the best time there, and all of our fans have been really supportive, so we can't wait to go down there again."

When asked about Mary-Kate's condition, Ashley replied, "Things are good."

"They are everything to each other," a close source tells Us. "Twins, business partners, and best friends. They are always in each others' corners."

The twins' father reportedly was the one to spearhead a family intervention with the aid of Mary-Kate's therapist to get his daughter help before she headed off to college this fall, and more importantly, before she turned 18 on June 13 while the family still had legal control over her.

But a source tells Us that the decision was reached in a calm manner and Mary-Kate essentially made her own decision to get help. "Her family was certainly involved, but this was something Mary-Kate knew she needed to do ... she was not dragged to the facility."

And Dave Olsen tells the magazine that Mary-Kate is indeed responding positively to treatment. "It's a good opportunity she's having right now, and it seems she's making progress" he says. "She's looking better and she's carrying herself better. That puts a smile on my face."

For more on what Ashley has to say about Mary-Kate's recovery, check out tonight's ET!

supossidly theyre are word for word sources and the sources that have actually double accountd that in rehab she went" im mary kate oslen and i am addicted to cocain" if you do cocain anyway you have a low self esteem and think of urself as a piece of trash... why else do you harm your body... anorexia goes hand in hand with it because you make yourself so sick. i dont know it just disgusts me what people do with fame. its just sad to see people you grew up watching fall apart. anorexia or crack or what not. if she does do cocain thats it, all she is to me is a joke. if its anorexia alone, i wish the best for her. its tough it really is a disease that haunts you.

I agree. If it's cocaine then I have absolutely no respect for her anymore, but I do wish her the best. As a child I looked up to her, and now that I'm older I cherish those memories so that's why I follow her career. But if it is just anorexia, I wish her the best and I know it's not her fault. She didn't wake up one morning and say, "hey, I want to become anorexic and practically kill myself"...no.

But there are quotes of it being an eating disorder. Whether it's by itself or with a drug addiction we don't know. So keep that in mind.

wow this board is active tonight! exactly, those kiddies are a year younger than me, so ive been the same age throughout their career as them... i just dont want them to screw up their lives because they want to lose that squeaky clean image. gr

Exactly! I don't understand what would make Mary-Kate want to do that to herself I mean look at her, she's rich, beautiful, a role-model, and has a whole life ahead of her. Why ruin it for something as little as "hollywood image"?

barb1686
06-30-2004, 12:25 AM
...and as bad as this sounds, you'd think she would know she's beautiful if there are guys out there counting down the days for their 18th birthday. She had to know she was very attractive...I guess she thought losing weight would make her sexier, but the truth is she looks sick and not sexy. :(

06-30-2004, 12:30 AM
Yeah...I just hope she comes to her senses before she kills herself :( I might start a scrapbook on this forum where we can all post are get-well wishes to MK and send them to her! And about those guys counting down the days, they are sick and some of those that were counting may have been sick pedophiles.

I totally agree with you, Barb! It's those "reliable" sources of CNN, ET, etc that I pay attention to as well.

It seems to me that Star or any other "gossip" magazine is just trying to suck up all the attention as much as they can now that people are worried/know about the Mary-Kate. How dare they!

Some US Weekly editor was on On Air With Ryan Seacrest today and he mentioned that the rumors of Mary-Kate on drugs are false. He said that people are thinking she is in drug rehab as well becasue the treatment place she is in right now deals with eating disorders and drug problems. I heard that Mary-Kate is practicing some belief that is sort of like Judaism. It is the religion Madonna is. Does anyone know if that is true?

I could believe it...but I'm thinking they are Episcopalian (however you spell that). But it is possible.

I am wondering because I have tried to figure out what religion they were (if at all) and never could. I said that about her being Jewish b/c someone saw her wearing a red bracelt and said that is what it stood for. I'm trying to think of the name of the religion...it is kawla or something like that. Demi Moore also is a part of that religion.

The red bracelet is often used by anorexics to remind them not to eat....but is also seen on Kabbalists. As for the Episcopalian...I forget where I read it, but I read that they were Episcopalian and I believe it was a reliable source. They also went to an Episcopalian school, Campbell Hall.

Yup, and they often use the term ana instead of anorexia. If you type in a search for "anorexic, red bracelet" you'll get some results of those who wear it or pro-eating disorder websites. It's scary that they do this, but it's the truth.

Using Red: Use red to grab attention and to get people to take action. Use red when you don't want to sink into the background. Use red to suggest speed combined with confidence and perhaps even a dash of danger. A little bit of red goes a long way. Small doses can often be more effective than large amounts of this strong color. Multiple shades of red and even pink or orange can combine for a cheerful palette.

I don't know the twins personally, but I seriously doubt that Mary-Kate is or was on any kind of drugs. It's all the media that is starting this mess. That's why she ended up in the rehab for an eating disorder from the beginning. The media wants and puts pressure on young people that in order to be "pretty" or "popular you have to look like a Mary-Kate or an Ashley, you have to be thin like them. I read that Mary-Kate felt like she didn't really have any control over her life, and the only thing she felt like she could control was her food. That's why people have eating disorders. Something in their life is happening and they feel like they can't control it, so they find something that they can control, IMO.

I read that article too...I believe it was a doctor(not her's), not Mary-Kate herself, that said she probably feels like food is the only thing she has control over...but yes, the media does put a lot of pressure on them and that's not fair...
