My aunt is helping my grandpa because he married a woman who is crook and has messed up his finances. yesterday she told me that grandpa had put me second in line for power of attorney. he put me above for other kids including my mom. I don't have to do anything I am just second in line for power of attorney. for those of you who don't understand what that is: http://moneycentral.msn.com/quickref/quickref.asp?Cat=6&SelCat=6&RefType=0&Topic=4&Sub=2

You don't have to do anything?? I'm sorry but the person responsible for power of attorney has a lot more responsabilities than what you think and they need a lot of problem solving skills in a very short amount of time. Good luck!

How old are ya?

That's weird that you were chosen over the rest of your grandpa's children...

CoolCounty made a post about his grandfather getting involved with a crook. As a result, CoolCounty may be granted power of attorney.

What's with all the sarcasm and acting like it's a stupid thread? CoolCounty isn't some spammer that we're looking to run off the boards. How about offering your own stories of someone getting robbed of money or having power of attorney.

CoolCounty, I was power of attorney when both my parents took ill. I also was their health proxy which gave me the decision making responsibilty in the event that they became too ill to decide for themselves. I was also the executor of their estate.

Power of Attorney status is a big responsibility. I had to handle all of their legal and financial matters as well as sell their home. Your signature is as good as the person you are representing as power of attorney. You are also financially responsible if you make mistakes.

Since you're second in line, it probably won't come to you, but if it does, PM me. I've so been there, done that. Good luck. :)
